\n The first team ended their Western Union campaign with a nail-biting victory over West of Scotland at Hamilton Crescent.\n<\/p>\n
\n Scott McElnea won the toss and elected to bat and got off to a decent start with most of the top order getting into 20\u2019s but none really kicking on.\n<\/p>\n
\n Jon Fearn was the exception, top scoring with 48 against his old club as they were eventually bowled out for 202.\n<\/p>\n
\n Ayr\u2019s young seam bowling attack of Robbie Walsh and Jake Woodhouse then gave them the perfect start as they have done in the past few weeks.\n<\/p>\n
\n When West came to bat, each claimed a wicket to remove the opening batsmen with only 12 on the board.\n<\/p>\n
\n McElnea and James Hobman then got in the act as they claimed three wickets between them to leave the hosts on 65-5 before a fifty run partnership between James Fennah and Jesse Mills (37) brought West back into the game.\n<\/p>\n
\n Though spinners Mikey Maxwell and Jackson Smith claimed another three quick wickets to leave them struggling on 121-8 and apparently on the way to victory.\n<\/p>\n
\n However, another 50 partnership between Fennah and Etheridge took them to 170-9 bringing Oscar Fry to join Fennah and the pair took the total to 199 when Scott McElnea trapped Fry lbw to leave Ayr victors by just three runs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Sadly, the Cambusdoon XI ended their season with a disappointing defeat at home to Partick.\n<\/p>\n
\n The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first and were soon in trouble Davy Baines claimed three quick wickets to leave them on 9-3.\n<\/p>\n
\n Krishnan and Williams then made a recovery for West taking the score to 82 before the other members of the Baines family, father David and brother Jonny ripped through the Partick middle order as Partick were reduced to 103-8.\n<\/p>\n
\n They looked to be in deep trouble only for Dave McNulty with 81 not out to rescue the innings as they were bowled out for 211 off the last ball of their 50 overs.\n<\/p>\n
\n When Cambusdoon came to bat they were soon in trouble themselves and were reduced to 45-6 before Niall McCrossin (26) and Ross Beatie (21) with the only notable scores of the innings made a slight recovery.\n<\/p>\n
\n Though, on their departure, any chance of recovery ended and they were bowled out for 100 to leave Partick winners by 111 runs.\n<\/p>\n
\n Heavy overnight rain ended any chance of the McCulloch Finals Day being played this weekend and this will now take place on Sunday with Ayr meeting Clydesdale in their semi-final.\n<\/p>\n
