{"id":758214,"date":"2026-09-02T23:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T23:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/758214\/"},"modified":"2026-09-02T23:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T23:54:08","slug":"robert-garcia-predicts-ko-in-ryan-garcia-vs-conor-benn-after-hearing-sparring-stories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/758214\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Garcia predicts KO in Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn after hearing sparring stories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Top trainer Robert Garcia doesn\u2019t believe the judges will be required come September 12 when Ryan Garcia defends his WBC welterweight world title against Conor Benn.<\/p>\n<p>Benn was named mandatory challenger last year despite not fighting at the weight since 2022 and competing as high as middleweight on two high-profile occasions against Chris Eubank Jr.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to making his prediction, coach Garcia does not focus on how <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/ex-benn-opponent-worried-for-weight-cut\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the weight cut \u2013 which Benn has admitted is \u2018brutal\u2019<\/a> \u2013 will affect the Brit, rather how Ryan Garcia will prepare.<\/p>\n<p>The champion has blown hot and cold over the years, but Robert Garcia believes that fans will see a focused \u2018King Ry\u2019 come fight night, culminating in his 21st knockout win.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6U67xgD4MGw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fight Hub TV<\/a>, the highly-regarded trainer revealed that Garcia is \u2018hurting\u2019 sparring partners and struggling to find replacements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think [Ryan] is in great shape for this one, because he wants to defend [his title]. He wants to be the champion, the best in the welterweight division. I see him training hard. For previous fights against Rolly [Romero], I don\u2019t think he was focused. I think he should have a good performance. I think he should win by knockout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, look, if there\u2019s one [moment] he\u2019s not focused, or Conor Benn is able to take his punch and goes into the later rounds, then we could maybe see a chance. But I don\u2019t see that. I hear from people in Southern California looking for sparring partners because he\u2019s been hurting sparring partners and they need to find new guys \u2026 I don\u2019t think it goes twelve rounds.
