England fast bowler Matthew Potts has signed a three-year contract extension with Durham.<\/p>\n

The deal will keep the 27-year-old seamer at Chester-le-Street until at least the end of the 2029 season and will extend an association that started with Potts joining the pathway programme aged nine. <\/p>\n

Potts has been a standout performer in Durham’s charge to what looks set to be a comfortable promotion to Division One at the end of this campaign.<\/p>\n

The seamer has taken more wickets than anyone in either of the two divisions this season with 52 victims so far at an average of 17.98. <\/p>\n

In total Potts has 376 wickets across 141 matches for the club, having taken over 450 scalps in his career.<\/p>\n

Potts has also claimed 50 wickets in 24 matches for England across all three formats on the international stage.<\/p>\n

“I feel like I still have a lot more to give to this club,” Potts told the Durham website, external<\/a>. “I owe the club a hell of a lot from early investment through the academy and I hold it dear.<\/p>\n

“We are building something within the dressing room, it’s taken a couple of years, but I feel like we’re heading in the right direction. This group is really exciting.”<\/p>\n

Potts added: “We have a few games left this year and we want to finish as Division Two champions.<\/p>\n

“Next year we want to be pushing to try and win Division One which is the ultimate goal for any county cricketer, and I think this group has the potential to do so.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"England fast bowler Matthew Potts has signed a three-year contract extension with Durham.
