After spending the past few years working on television and in independent film, Elliot Page<\/a> made his return to blockbusters this summer in Christopher Nolan\u2019s The Odyssey<\/a>. If you\u2019ve seen the film, you know that Page plays Sinon and serves as the movie\u2019s beating heart. You would think that his impressive performance \u2014 human and emotional without ever being showy \u2014 would have Hollywood big shots banging on his door asking him to be in their upcoming projects. Unfortunately, according to Page, that has not been the case.<\/p>\n Page appeared on the On Film \u2026 With Kevin McCarthy<\/a> podcast on Tuesday, where McCarthy asked him if he was receiving \u201ca zillion calls\u201d after the success of The Odyssey.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, Kevin, I\u2019m not. If someone wants to call me? I know I get some pushback for being \u2026 Canadian,\u201d Page, who came out as transgender in 2020, joked. He told McCarthy that he has nothing lined up at the moment, but that he really wants to get back on set.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d really love to do ideally good work. That\u2019s what I\u2019d love to do,\u201d Page said. He recalled being \u201cpersonally really uncomfortable\u201d on film sets before coming out, including his first time working with Nolan on 2010\u2019s Inception. (In his memoir, Pageboy<\/a>, he wrote that he actually got shingles while filming Inception due to anxiety.) Now, however, he\u2019s ready to access a new part of himself as an actor.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel like I could maybe do some of my best work now,\u201d Page said. \u201cI\u2019m not having to literally work through a performance that I don\u2019t even quite know I\u2019m doing [in order] to get to a performance.\u201d<\/p>\n Hello, Hollywood? Let\u2019s get the ball rolling on this era of Page\u2019s career. I\u2019m picturing a Whip It reunion, with Drew Barrymore returning to direct; a mid-budget indie rom-com; or maybe a freaked-out role in the next Josh Safdie picture.
