The two-time Tour de France champion will have plenty of firepower to support his bid for a first career Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a win, including Matteo Jorgenson and 2023 Vuelta winner Sepp Kuss.<\/p>\n

The last time Visma-Lease a Bike committed several star climbers to the hunt for a Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a title, in 2023, they swept the podium \u2013 albeit after a controversy over which of its riders would win<\/a>. They would probably “settle” for just the victory this year, and with the eight-rider lineup they revealed on Monday, they will be confident in their chances of getting Jonas Vingegaard his first career Vuelta victory as the race looms.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m here for the overall win, and with this team supporting me, that seems like a realistic goal,” Vingegaard acknowledged in a Visma statement.<\/p>\n

The two-time Tour de France winner, fresh off another defeat to Tadej Poga\u010dar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) in that race, has finished as highly as second overall in the Vuelta, achieving that result in the 2023 edition where his teammate Sepp Kuss secured the red jersey with then-teammate Primo\u017e Rogli\u010d rounding out the podium. Then as now, Vingegaard was the pre-ordained leader. This time around, maybe he will keep that title through to Madrid, even if he will once again have some big talents sharing the team bus with him.<\/p>\n
