Hmmm, it feels like August could give us one of the tightest Game of the Month votes that we’ve had in quite some time.<\/p>\n

That’s mostly because there was no standout AAA heavy hitter \u2014 no massive release ready to crush the competition.<\/p>\n

Don’t get me wrong, August still had a healthy smattering of ‘big’ games, but I do think a good number of them will end up cannibalising each other when it comes to the public vote.<\/p>\n

Indeed, last month saw the launch of some highly rated PS5 titles, the top dogs including Mortal Shell 2<\/a>, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy<\/a>, and Star Wars Zero Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls<\/a> hit really hard with critics as well, although fighting games always have a tough time with these Game of the Month polls because of their niche nature.<\/p>\n

It’s possible that Big Walk<\/a> has a shot here; the quirky indie adventure, which launched straight onto PS Plus<\/a>, attracted a huge number of players. It’s been a bit of a viral success story.<\/p>\n
