Jennifer Aniston has said the best advice she ever received<\/a> came from the late Queen of Country<\/a>, Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n

The Friends star was speaking at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on Wednesday when she revealed the advice her late collaborator gave her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe would say, \u2018I chased a few rainbows and I caught a few.\u2019 So I would say just go chase your dreams and go catch some rainbows. Chase rainbows,\u201d Aniston said of her \u201cdear friend\u201d Parton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event was in celebration of her boyfriend Jim Curtis\u2019 new self-help book, The Book of Possibility. <\/p>\n

Aniston and Parton worked together on the 2018 Netflix movie Dumplin\u2019, which starred Danielle Macdonald as an underdog teen who enters a beauty pageant, starring Aniston as the protagonist\u2019s mom. Parton contributed to the soundtrack, providing the Grammy-nominated song \u201cGirl in the Movies\u201d which she co-wrote with Linda Perry.<\/p>\n

As executive producer and star of the series, it was Aniston who asked Parton to be involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think any more about [the book] until Jennifer Aniston\u2019s company called me a couple years ago sayin\u2019 that she was doing it as a movie and was gonna be starrin\u2019 in it and asking if they could license some of my original music for the movie and I said, \u2018Of course,\u2019\u201d Parton previously recalled.<\/p>\n

Through her Echo Films banner, Aniston has been working on a reimagination of the 1980 comedy film 9 to 5, in which Parton made her film debut<\/a>. While Parton wasn\u2019t involved in the forthcoming project, she gave it her blessing before her death.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Jennifer,\u201d Parton said in 2025. \u201cI think it\u2019ll be a wonderful thing\u2026 I do wish her the best, because the script I read, I thought, was really good and a new and different take that really brings the office up to date the way that people live now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parton, who died last week aged 80 following a \u201cbrief battle with cancer,\u201d has been remembered, in part, for the wise life advice that she would give to her co-stars and fans.<\/p>\n

In the wake of Parton\u2019s death, a clip resurfaced of Julia Roberts recalling the advice she got from Parton<\/a> while working together on the 1989 movie Steel Magnolias.<\/p>\n

During an appearance that year on The Oprah Winfrey Show to promote the movie, Roberts shared that Parton had given her a crucial piece of advice during a sweltering day filming in the Louisiana summer heat.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone had ice on their wrist and was doing the whole thing, everyone was like, \u2018It\u2019s hot, can I get some water?\u2019 And I finally just had to say, \u2018Dolly, I mean, you\u2019ve got a wig and the wool. Come on, it\u2019s hot, sweat a little, you know? Just say \u2018I\u2019m hot,\u2019 you know. \u2018This is a drag!\u2019\u201d Roberts recalled to host Winfrey.<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cAnd she said \u2014 I remember we were sitting on the porch, do you remember this? And she said to me, \u2018When I was a little girl, I wanted to be famous and I wanted to be rich, and now I\u2019m both those things. I\u2019m not going to complain about it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Roberts said that she took the advice very seriously and that she\u2019s \u201cnever forgotten it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018Okay, I\u2019m going to be quiet for the rest of the day,\u2019\u201d she said at the time.<\/p>\n
