{"id":762490,"date":"2026-09-07T03:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T03:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/762490\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T03:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T03:30:12","slug":"2026-summer-box-office-may-break-a-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/762490\/","title":{"rendered":"2026 Summer Box-Office May Break A Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2026-summer-box-office-may-break-a-record.jpg\" data-caption=\"Sony Pictures\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/2026-summer-box-office-may-break-a-record.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"2026-summer-box-office-may-break-a-record\"\/><\/a>Sony Pictures<\/p>\n<p>Buoyed by the success of superheroes, ancient epics, indie horror and animated fare, tracking firm Rentrak reports that the U.S. Summer box-office is on track to smash the all-time record.<\/p>\n<p>The group says they expect this weekend\u2019s three-day domestic box-office total to be $88 million, which would bring the entire Summer box-office total up to $4.732 billion by the end of Sunday \u2013 the second-best summer ever.<\/p>\n<p>However, the official end of the summer box office is the Labor Day holiday on Monday, and if that Monday brings in a further $25-27 million as projected, then it could beat the previous all-time record set in 2013 of $4.758 billion.<\/p>\n<p>To be fair, 2026 has a bit of an advantage with the box-office Summer running 130 days this year compared to 123 days in 2013 so technically it\u2019s a bit of a cheat.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019ll be a photo finish either way, with the difference coming down to as little as $1-3 million.
