Musicians from Talk Talk<\/a> reunited for a one-off show celebrating the 40th anniversary of classic album \u2018The Colour Of Spring\u2019, and brought out Ride\u2019s<\/a> Mark Gardener, Ed Harcourt<\/a>, Fyfe Dangerfield and more.<\/p>\n

The gig took place on Saturday September 5 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town<\/a>, and included a selection of songs from Talk Talk\u2019s seminal album \u2018The Colour of Spring\u2019, in celebration of the milestone, along with some other classics from the band\u2019s discography.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s third studio album was released in February 1986 and represented a major transition for them musically \u2013 leaving behind the synthpop sound that had made them successful, and now embracing a more experimental, jazz and art pop-influenced approach.<\/p>\n

For the gig on Saturday, musicians including Simon Brenner, the group\u2019s founding keyboardist, as well as Phil Ramocon and Ian Curnow came together and paid tribute to their singer Mark Hollis<\/a>, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 64<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They were joined on stage by Sophie Barker (Zero 7<\/a>), Gale Paridjanian (Turin Brakes<\/a>), Tim Eisenburg (Sweet Billy Pilgrim), Chris Hampson and Jacob Brown, as well as guest collaborations from Ed Harcourt<\/a> and Guillemots<\/a>\u2019 Fyfe Dangerfield, and Ride\u2019s Mark Gardener.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Both Harcourt and Dangerfield helped open the night with their own solo sets, and later returned to the stage during the main Talk Talk set.<\/p>\n

To kick the headline set off, Elsenberg joined the band for \u2018Today\u2019 and \u2018Talk Talk\u2019, before later coming back for \u2018I Don\u2019t Believe In You\u2019, and \u2018The Party\u2019s Over\u2019.<\/p>\n

Mark Gardener took to the stage to help break out \u2018Living In Another World\u2019 and \u2018The Rainbow\u2019, Fyfe Dangerfield joined for \u2018Time It\u2019s Time\u2019, and Mark Harcourt helped perform \u2018I Believe In You\u2019 and \u2018The Colour Of Spring\u2019 \u2013 the latter of which being from Hollis\u2019 1998 solo album.<\/p>\n

Sophie Barker joined in later in the set, and took on \u2018Happiness Is Easy\u2019, \u2018Tomorrow Started\u2019, \u2018Such A Shame\u2019, and fan favourite \u2018It\u2019s My Life\u2019, while Olly Knights sang \u2018Give It Up\u2019. The set closed with \u2018Life\u2019s What You Make It\u2019, which featured all guest performers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The gig this weekend took place shortly after Talk Talk released a 40th anniversary reissue of \u2018The Colour Of Spring\u2019, cut at half speed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before then, the band had already released a half-speed reissue of \u2018Spirit Of Eden\u2019<\/a>, overseen by Mark Hollis\u2019 son Charlie, as well as the band\u2019s drummer Lee Harris and producer Matt Colton.<\/p>\n

In an obituary for Mark Hollis, NME wrote: <\/a>\u201cCiting influences such as Debussy, Bartok, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, however, Hollis clearly had ambitions beyond the frivolous pop music of the early \u201880s.
