{"id":763574,"date":"2026-09-08T04:18:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T04:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/763574\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T04:18:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T04:18:13","slug":"huddersfield-barrister-jailed-over-revenge-plot-with-client","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/763574\/","title":{"rendered":"Huddersfield barrister jailed over revenge plot with client"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A barrister from West Yorkshire who plotted a revenge attack with her &#8220;career criminal&#8221; client has been jailed for more than three years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Samreen Akhtar had represented Tabish Ali, who had been shot and injured in Blacker Road in Huddersfield on 14 September 2021. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The following day, the 38-year-old barrister, of Sufton Street, Huddersfield, was recorded on a telephone call to Ali putting forward a plan to find the person responsible for the shooting so they could be caused serious injuries, according to West Yorkshire Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Akhtar was convicted of encouraging or assisting the commission of an indictable offence, namely inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">At Manchester Crown Court on Monday, she was given a prison term of three years and three months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Police said Ali was part of a drugs gang and was later charged with the murder of Jamal Nedd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Nedd had been shot and killed outside his Huddersfield home as he was driving his mother to work on 19 December 2020. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Ali, of Clare Road, Cleckheaton, was charged with his murder in 2021 and later convicted and given a life sentence along with two other men in July 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A barrister from West Yorkshire who plotted a revenge attack with her &#8220;career criminal&#8221; client has been jailed&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":763575,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[59,57,58,50,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-763574","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-united-kingdom","tag-gb","tag-great-britain","tag-greatbritain","tag-news","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/763574","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=763574"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/763574\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/763575"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=763574"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=763574"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=763574"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
