Bloc Party<\/a> have shared new single \u2018Lagoon Blue\u2019, as well adding yet more dates to their upcoming record store tour due to demand.<\/p>\n

The new track, a reimagined version of the band\u2019s 2023 track \u2018Blue\u2019, marks the latest preview of the London band\u2019s seventh studio album, \u2018Anatomy Of A Brief Romance\u2019, which is released on September 11 via Contagious Music. It follows the tracks \u2018Coming On Strong\u2019<\/a>, \u2018Love Bombs\u2019<\/a>, \u2018Now We Can\u2019t Be Friends\u2019<\/a> and \u2018Pigwig<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lagoon Blue\u2019 was the first song penned for the upcoming record, created at a time when frontman Kele Okereke<\/a> was said to be \u201cblissfully in the first throes of a new love\u201d that ultimately dissolved.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe song is about feeling like love had come back into my life, when I didn\u2019t think that was going to be possible,\u201d Okereke said in a press release.\u00a0\u201cSo it was a really joyous song for me. But I felt I couldn\u2019t sing it every night, knowing what I know now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only way to make it work was to tell the whole story of our relationship, where \u2018Lagoon Blue\u2019 is only a beat of it, not the whole story.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The band have also added yet more dates to their UK record store tour<\/a>, which kicks off tomorrow night (September 9), with several extra performances due to phenomenal demand.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0last spring<\/a>, Okereke teased what fans could expect from the upcoming \u2018Anatomy Of A Brief Romance\u2019, which was produced by the legendary Trevor Horn<\/a> (Grace Jones<\/a>, Pet Shop Boys<\/a>, Frankie Goes To Hollywood<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe term that we were bandying around at the start was \u2018disco heartbreak\u2019,\u201d he told us at the time. \u201cThat was the umbrella, but it\u2019s kind of morphed into something else. We\u2019re only six songs in, so it could go completely left. We\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

The frontman said: \u201cIt\u2019s a record about heartbreak, really \u2013 that\u2019s the only thing I can say about it at this stage. Hopefully it will be out next year, but we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for his experience working with Horn, Okereke explained: \u201cHe\u2019s made some of my favourite records of all time, so it\u2019s quite interesting to hear what he has to say. He\u2019s been making records for most of his life, for over 50 years, so he seems to know all the tricks. He seems to know everyone as well and have a story about everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Comprising 14 songs, the LP is structured like a memoir by Okereke and features some of his most personal songs yet. \u2018Anatomy Of A Brief Romance\u2019 follows on from 2022\u2019s\u00a0\u2018Alpha Games\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n
