Kevin Costner<\/a> has made a surprising career move following his bitter departure from the hit TV show Yellowstone<\/a> after five seasons and box office flop, Horizon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Monday,\u00a0Amazon MGM Studios announced the two-time Oscar winner,\u00a070, signed on to star in their upcoming\u00a0dramedy,\u00a0Honeymoon with Harry, alongside\u00a0Jake Gyllenhaal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film centers on a man (Gyllenhaal)\u00a0who, just days before his wedding, loses his fianc\u00e9e.\u00a0In the wake of her sudden death, he chooses to embark on the planned honeymoon trip with his would-be father-in-law (Costner).<\/p>\n

Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are set to direct the movie,\u00a0based on Bart Baker’s 2016 book Honeymoon with Harry.<\/p>\n

This marks\u00a0Costner’s first project since\u00a0Horizon’s lackluster box office performance.<\/p>\n

After a tough opening weekend upon its release on June 28, 2024, the father-of-seven insisted he was ‘really happy’ that\u00a0Horizon ‘like what it\u2019s supposed to look like’ on the big screen.<\/p>\n

‘That\u2019s really important to me in this process,’ he told Entertainment Weekly. ‘Would I love that it would be highly, highly successful? ‘Of course, I\u2019d like that. My ego would like that; everyone would like that. But I am happiest that the movie that you and I are talking about looks the way I want it to look.’<\/p>\n

In June, the\u00a0Yellowstone alum\u00a0announced that he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.<\/p>\n

‘I don’t even think about retiring, because I’ll just move to the next thing that captures my imagination,’ he told People<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Costner further explained that his own imagination ‘is what determines what I do, not a boss.’<\/p>\n

The Dances with Wolves added, ‘I’ve felt really lucky in my life. I’d like to think that I worked for all of it, but not everybody can live by the same blueprint.’<\/p>\n

In regards to having a ‘bucket list’ of what he still wants to do with his career, the actor stated, ‘I don’t have those things.<\/p>\n

‘I have that list, [but] I don’t refer to it that way. But certainly my eyes and my enthusiasms are wide open and very big.’<\/p>\n

Costner added that he has ‘enjoyed life and imagining what I can do, what can I be about and what makes a difference. Not only to me, but to other people. What just satisfies me?<\/p>\n

The actor has previously touched on his future in the industry, including during a conversation with AARP <\/a>in 2019.<\/p>\n

When questioned if he ‘ever thinks’ about retiring, the Hollywood star replied, ‘I really feel like some of the great surprises I have are in front of me.<\/p>\n

‘As I play out the second half of my career, I’ve been doing a lot of writing, and there are projects I still want to do.’<\/p>\n

He further expressed that his ‘life is a lot more than movies. I just periodically pop up in them. In between, I’m living my other life.’<\/p>\n

Costner began his career when he took on a role in the 1981 movie Sizzle Beach, U.S.A. – also known as Malibu Hot Summer.<\/p>\n

Kevin worked alongside other stars such as Robert De Niro, Andy Garcia and Sean Connery in the crime film – which garnered four Oscar nominations.<\/p>\n

In 1990, Costner both starred in and directed the Western epic Dances With Wolves – which won him Best Picture and Best Director the following year at the Academy Awards.<\/p>\n

Other movies the actor is known for is Field Of Dreams (1989), The Bodyguard (1992), Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves (1991), Wyatt Earp (1994), Open Range (2003) and Man Of Steel (2013).<\/p>\n

In 2024, Costner starred in, wrote and directed Horizon: An American Saga – which is set to be followed by three additional movies.<\/p>\n

The second part premiered earlier this year at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February. It was also screened during the 81st Venice Film Festival last year in September.<\/p>\n
