Enric Mas <\/a>(Movistar) has all but sealed the victory at the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a after successfully defending his race lead on the final mountain stage 20 atop Collado del Alguacil.<\/p>\n

In what was a celebration for Spain on the penultimate stage, Mikel Landa<\/a> (Soudal-QuickStep) proved the strongest from the day’s breakaway<\/a> to take the day’s victory.<\/p>\n

Mas will carry the leader’s jersey into the finale stage 21 held in Granada on Sunday. He extended his overall race lead, now 2:15 ahead of runner-up Primo\u017e Rogli\u010d<\/a> (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a strong ride on the penultimate day saw Felix Gall<\/a> (Decathlon CMA CGM) attack Rogli\u010d to cut the gap, although he remains in third overall; he is now only 2:44 back.<\/p>\n

Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) also launched several attacks but remains in fourth place, 6:54 back.<\/p>\n

Sepp Kuss (Visma-Lease a Bike) gained the most on the mountain stage, jumping up six spots and into fifth place overall. He is now 8:44 back.<\/p>\n

Behind him, everyone slid one spot in the classification, with Oscar Onley (Netcompany Ineos) now in sixth place at 9:28, and Jakob Omrzel (Bahrain Victorious) in seventh at 10:38.<\/p>\n

Clement Berthet (Groupama-FDJ United) is in eighth at 11:41, and Cristian Rodriguez (XDS Astana) in ninth at 11:49.<\/p>\n

Harold Tejada (XDS Astana) continues to round out the top 10 at 14:40<\/p>\n

The Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a will conclude with stage 21, a sprint-friendly finale in Grenada on Sunday.<\/p>\n
