It\u2019s no secret that when a new iPhone launches, older models tend to drop in price, making it a good time to pick up an upgrade. But Apple has done things a little differently this year, increasing the price of several existing iPhone models by \u00a3100 following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, as well as its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo<\/a>. <\/p>\n

But while Apple has raised its prices, retailers like Very, Curry, and Amazon haven\u2019t followed suit. I\u2019ve spotted the iPhone 17 Pro <\/a>on sale at Very for \u00a3100 less than its previous \u00a31,099 price, bringing the high-ticket phone down to \u00a3999.<\/p>\n

The same goes for the iPhone 16, which now costs \u00a3799 from Apple, while retailers like Very<\/a> are still selling it for \u00a3699.<\/p>\n

Launched a year ago, The Independent\u2019s technology critic David Phelan<\/a> said the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are the \u201cbest iPhone ever\u201d in his review of the models<\/a>. He noted the super-fast performance, superb battery life and a \u201cbig leap forward in camera capabilities\u201d, so you can guarantee little FOMO from the models this September. Plus the discounts right now make it all the more appealing. <\/p>\n

Tech critic David Phelan <\/a>was taken by the model, giving it five stars in his iPhone 17 Pro review<\/a>. The Apple iPhone 17 Pro features novel technology like the brand\u2019s advanced screen protection technology, Ceramic Shield 2, a wider camera panel that allows for more room for the battery and a 3,000-nit screen brightness. <\/p>\n

On the display, David said: \u201cApple\u2019s ProMotion displays are spectacular, with pin-sharp detail, rich and accurate colours and wide viewing angles. The anti-reflection helps, too, though it\u2019s a subtle rather than a night-and-day difference.\u201d He also noted its powerful performance and a clever selfie camera that spins the picture\u2019s orientation without needing to move your hand horizontally for ease.<\/p>\n

Right now, I\u2019ve seen the price drop from \u00a31,099 to \u00a3999 at Very<\/a>, Currys<\/a>, John Lewis<\/a> and Amazon<\/a>, while Affordable Mobiles<\/a> currently has one of the cheapest iPhone 17 Pro deals. You can get the phone with 100GB of data for \u00a349 per month and a \u00a339 up-front cost.<\/p>\n

The Max version of the iPhone (think bigger screen and a longer-battery) is also seeing discounts across retailers, with Very cutting the price from \u00a31,119 to \u00a31,099. In his review, Phelan wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s like Apple thought about all the boxes it could, and then ticked them all. Super-fast performance? Check. Best battery life yet? Check. A big leap forward in camera capabilities? Absolutely. And none of these metrics are coming from a low base.\u201d<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not just at Very you\u2019ll find this model reduced. Amazon<\/a> has also cut the price to \u00a31,099, as have Currys<\/a> and John Lewis<\/a>.<\/p>\n
