When\u00a0Equal Mostaza\u00a0hit the wire first in Sunday\u2019s\u00a0Cl\u00e1sico General Pueyrred\u00f3n (G3, 3000m, turf)\u00a0at\u00a0San Isidro, his jockey\u00a0Francisco Leandro\u00a0celebrated as though it had been a top-level prize.<\/p>\n

As for\u00a0Equal Mostaza, racing in the silks of\u00a0Stud Las Monjitas, he continues to take major steps forward in his development. It\u2019s worth recalling that only in May he managed to break his maiden at his fifth attempt.<\/p>\n
Distance has been key to his improvement: he was runner-up in the\u00a0Belgrano (G2)\u00a0at Palermo, took the\u00a0Cocles (L)\u00a0via disqualification, and now shone in the Pueyrred\u00f3n, stretching out between 2400 and 3000 meters.<\/p>\n
Bred by\u00a0Haras La Nora\u00a0and by the outstanding\u00a0Equal Stripes, the chestnut unleashed a relentless rally in the stretch, sealing the win well before the final furlong.<\/p>\n

The leaders continued their battle deep into the lane, until\u00a0Equal Mostaza\u00a0swept by on the outside to win with authority. At the wire, he was\u00a0two lengths clear\u00a0of\u00a0The Gladiator\u2019s Hat\u00a0and\u00a0Ninguneando (Bodemeister), who dead-heated for second. The favorite\u00a0So\u00f1ador Spring (Greenspring)\u00a0was another head back in fourth, with\u00a0El Darwin\u00a0two lengths behind in fifth. The final time was\u00a03:11.70.<\/p>\n
Trained by\u00a0Carlos D. Etchechoury\u00a0and presented by\u00a0Daniel Bord\u00f3n,\u00a0Equal Mostaza\u00a0is the first foal out of\u00a0Carta de Amor (Heliostatic), a multiple graded winner who was the first mare to capture a stakes race in the successful colors of\u00a0Camilo Bautista, and who hails from a family that has thrived at\u00a0Haras Santa Mar\u00eda de Araras.<\/p>\n
Equal Mostaza\u00a0stamped his authority on the Pueyrred\u00f3n, showing not only stamina to spare but also plenty of class. Now, the plan will be to cut back in trip and aim for the\u00a0Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1).
