Scottie Scheffler’s stand-in caddie, Michael Cromie, has landed himself a huge payday.<\/p>\n

Golf’s world no.1 had Cromie step in for his usual caddie, Ted Scott, as Scott deals with a family matter.<\/p>\n

Scheffler<\/a>‘s victory at the BMW Championship<\/a> this weekend earned him a cool $3.6 million, which will also see Cromie take home a career-high payday.<\/p>\n

Who is Michael Cromie?<\/p>\n

Cromie is the full-time caddie for six-time winner Chris Kirk.<\/p>\n

Kirk and Cromie missed out on the BMW Championship after they finished 51st at the St Jude Championship, with only the top 50 advancing to the Caves Valley Golf Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it was definitely different for sure. But Cromie was doing a great job. He\u2019s a guy I can trust,” Scheffler told reporters.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s one of Ted\u2019s good buddies. I\u2019d just say it\u2019s pretty much as simple as that. Cromie is a guy that works hard. He does his prep work, and he was an easy guy for me to trust out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheffler also praised Cromie for his communication as the pair closed out the tournament in brilliant fashion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt like we did a good job of talking through our shots and staying patient and keep doing the right things even when things were looking a little bit squirrelly there on the back nine,” he added.<\/p>\n

“We did a good job of staying focused and continuing to hit shots at the right targets. Closed the tournament out nicely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheffler was aware that Cromie was stepping into massive shoes as Scott, who won The Open with Scheffler last month, continues to deal with a personal matter.<\/p>\n

Before the BMW Championship, all of Scheffler’s titles had come with Scott, a partnership that began in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cTed is at home with his family, and he\u2019s where he\u2019s supposed to be. We\u2019re praying for them, and his family is doing all right,” Scheffler added.<\/p>\n

“Cromie did a great job this week. It\u2019s not easy stepping in and trying to fill in for Ted. Those are some big shoes to fill, but he did a great job. <\/p>\n

“Him and Ted are good buddies, and I\u2019m really thankful to have him on the bag this week. It was a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheffler staged incredible comeback to win the BMW Championship<\/p>\n

Robert MacIntyre let a four-shot overnight lead slip to lose the BMW Championship to Scheffler.<\/p>\n

Open champion Scheffler<\/a> showed his poise on his way to a three-under-par 67, taking him to 15 under for the week.<\/p>\n

“When it gets to this time of the year it can be a little bit tiring,” Scheffler said. <\/p>\n

“Today was a grind, and I think it just has a lot to do with the intensity we bring to each round and each shot.”<\/p>\n

Scheffler on track to beat Tiger Woods’ record<\/p>\n

Scheffler continues to hold his place as world no.1, a position he has held for a stunning 118 weeks.<\/p>\n

It means he edges even closer to one illustrious Tiger Woods<\/a> feat.<\/p>\n

Woods holds the all-time record for the longest stint as the world’s best player, which was 281 weeks from June 2005 to October 2010.<\/p>\n
