King Charles III intervened after Uganda pulled out of the Invictus Games<\/a> last week in a brutal blow to Prince Harry.<\/p>\n

While the monarch was \u201cmoved\u201d by the country\u2019s decision to abstain from the charity event in an effort \u201cnot to be construed as being opposed to\u201d Charles, the 77-year-old king clarified he took no issue with their participation.<\/p>\n

According to Chris Magezi, the spokesperson for Uganda People\u2019s Defence Forces, Charles\u2019 top adviser \u201cencouraged the CDF to proceed with preparations for UPDF\u2019s participation in the games\u201d during a recent phone call.<\/p>\n

Magezi subsequently tweeted<\/a> that the country would take part in the charity event after all.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has approved UPDF participation in the upcoming Invictus Games next year in Birmingham, United Kingdom,\u201d he wrote Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cKainerugaba appreciated the King\u2019s message and clarity provided by Buckingham Palace on the subject, promising that the UPDF would resume preparations to participate in the upcoming games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reps for Charles and Harry did not immediately respond to Page Six\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p>\n

News initially broke last week that Uganda was withdrawing, with Kainerugaba announcing, \u201cWe shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty\u2019s approval.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, he told the Times UK, \u201cI have factions in the\u00a0Ministry of Defense that support that Harry-Meghan [Markle] nonsense. I had to quash it straight away. I support the monarch. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n

His \u201cnonsense\u201d comment came on the heels of Harry, 41, and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocating to the United Kingdom<\/a> with their two kids.<\/p>\n

More than one week after the duo touched down in England<\/a> with Prince Archie<\/a>, 7, and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, 5, Charles released a statement<\/a> clarifying their status as \u201cprivate citizens with commercial and charitable interests\u201d \u2014 not a working royal.<\/p>\n

He wrote, \u201cIt is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties<\/a> on behalf of the Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of the Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry and Markle, 45, have taken issue<\/a> with the label, per People, as they consider themselves \u201cpublic figures.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The Duke of Sussex reportedly blamed his dad\u2019s announcement<\/a> for Uganda\u2019s short-lived exit, with a source telling ITV News, \u201cSadly, the only people who will suffer are the Invictus Games competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former military pilot launched the charity event in 2014, with the organization throwing a biennial multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel.<\/p>\n
