Anadolu via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChrisOMagezi\/status\/2099473764475965771\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Magezi subsequently tweeted<\/a> that the country would take part in the charity event after all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has approved UPDF participation in the upcoming Invictus Games next year in Birmingham, United Kingdom,\u201d he wrote Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKainerugaba appreciated the King\u2019s message and clarity provided by Buckingham Palace on the subject, promising that the UPDF would resume preparations to participate in the upcoming games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 77-year-old (pictured above in May 2023) allegedly stressed that he was \u201cmoved\u201d by Uganda\u2019s decision to withdraw. I had to quash it straight away. I support the monarch. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>His \u201cnonsense\u201d comment came on the heels of Harry, 41, and his wife, Meghan Markle, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/08\/19\/royal-family\/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-making-move-back-to-uk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">relocating to the United Kingdom<\/a> with their two kids.<\/p>\n<p>More than one week after the duo <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/08\/26\/royal-family\/prince-harry-meghan-markle-and-kids-land-in-the-uk-six-years-after-megxit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">touched down in England<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2019\/05\/06\/meghan-markle-gives-birth-welcomes-baby-boy-with-prince-harry\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Prince Archie<\/a>, 7, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/06\/06\/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-welcome-baby-girl-named-lilibet-diana\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Princess Lilibet<\/a>, 5, Charles <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/09\/07\/royal-family\/king-charles-breaks-silence-on-prince-harry-meghan-markles-uk-move\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">released a statement<\/a> clarifying their status as \u201cprivate citizens with commercial and charitable interests\u201d \u2014 not a working royal.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote, \u201cIt is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/01\/08\/prince-harry-and-meghan-markle-quit-the-royal-family\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stepped down from undertaking representative duties<\/a> on behalf of the Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of the Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Harry and Markle, 45, have <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/09\/09\/royal-family\/prince-harry-meghan-markles-issues-with-king-charles-deliberate-note-exposed-as-they-return-to-uk-as-public-figures\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">taken issue<\/a> with the label, per People, as they <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/09\/11\/royal-family\/the-real-reason-king-charles-dubbed-prince-harry-meghan-markle-private-citizens-as-couple-pushes-back\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">consider themselves \u201cpublic figures.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Duke of Sussex (pictured above in February 2025) launched the Invictus Games in 2014.
