‘Magnificent’ and once almost extinct bird of prey on the hunt

Paul Gruffalo Turner said: “Anyone who has spent time photographing the Hobby will know how difficult and frustrating they are.

“Just keeping them in the lens is a challenge, so I’m pretty buzzing to get this amazing split second in time shot of this beautiful male hunting at incredible speed and dexterity.

“The dragonfly is just out of the frame.

“I took lots of shots of just the water and missed the bird but feel extremely lucky to get this shot.”

What is a Eurasian Hobby?

Hobby Falcons are birds of prey that can look a bit like giant swifts.

They are about the same size as a kestrel and are known for their quick flight when chasing large insects or small birds.

The bird can fly up to 65mph during a chase.

The Eurasian Hobby, also known as Hobby, was captured by Worcester News Camera Club member Paul Gruffalo Turner.…

[26
90,56,54,55,4407
post-771749","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-wildlife","tag-science","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom","tag-wildlife
["GET
