Unsurprisingly, Ben White (\u00a35.5m) missed out after appearing to tweak his groin at the Stadium of Light. His positional rival, Jurrien Timber (\u00a36.5m), didn\u2019t feature either, but this was just Arteta wrapping up the injury-prone Dutchman in cotton wool:<\/p>\n

Despite Arteta saying last Friday<\/a> that he expected Cristhian Mosquera (\u00a35.3m) to be involved in Gameweek 4 or the EFL Cup third round, the centre-back failed to appear in either game.<\/p>\n A surprise absentee from Tuesday\u2019s squad was Piero Hincapie (\u00a35.3m). With Riccardo Calafiori (\u00a35.8m) predictably rested, Lewis-Skelly was forced to take up left-back duties in Hincapie\u2019s absence. Arteta was asked about Hincapie\u2019s no-show ahead of kick-off, and talked in vague terms of \u201clittle issues\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWith some players, as well, they were carrying some fatigue, some little issues that we have to look after. Other players were available, fresh and in better conditions to play.\u201d \u2013 Mikel Arteta, when asked about the absence of Piero Hincapie<\/p>\n Calafiori, Bukayo Saka (\u00a39.5m) and Kai Havertz (\u00a37.6m) remained unused on the visitors\u2019 bench, while Christos Tzolis (\u00a36.4m) and Martin Odegaard (\u00a36.7m) had brief cameos as 76th-minute substitutes. David Raya (\u00a36.0m) and Declan Rice (\u00a37.4m) had the night off altogether.<\/p>\n As for the on-field action, Max Dowman (\u00a35.3m) was the star of the show. A superb jinking run preceded his opener, while his second goal of the night was a composed finish after some good close control. He\u2019s yet to set foot on the field in the Premier League in 2026\/27, however, and he\u2019ll be back down among the substitutes at best in Gameweek 5.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we have to do is look after him \u2013 he\u2019s 16 years old, you don\u2019t see that in this league. In other leagues in Europe, that\u2019s a totally different context. But in this league, with the demands that the league, the players and everything puts on you, we really need to make sure every time we throw him in, he\u2019s in the right context with the right preparation, and that\u2019s what we are trying to do.\u201d \u2013 Mikel Arteta on Max Dowman<\/p>\n The good news for Havertz and Tzolis owners is that Viktor Gyokeres (\u00a37.2m) and Eberechi Eze (\u00a36.3m) were fairly poor. Gyokeres in particular had a stinker, registering just one shot. Eze\u2019s major contribution was the pass that set Dowman away for his opener.<\/p>\n Noni Madueke (\u00a36.2m) and Mikel Merino (\u00a35.8m) were a lot better, adding goals as Arsenal raced into a 4-0 lead. Bruno was very good, too, playing major parts in two goals; his tackle led to Madueke\u2019s strike, while it was from his deflected pass that Merino scored.<\/p>\n Martin Zubimendi (\u00a35.3m) deputised at right-back, and could be an option there this weekend if Timber and\/or White are deemed unfit to start. <\/p>\n No Arsenal player hit the DefCon threshold but Gabriel registered six contributions in just 45 minutes of action, so he was well on his way.<\/p>\n IPSWICH TOWN<\/p>\n Gary O\u2019Neil, likewise, rotated his regulars. Centre-half Jacob Greaves (\u00a34.0m) was the only survivor from the weekend.<\/p>\n Of the other 10 Gameweek 4 starters, we only saw Jack Clarke (\u00a35.4m), Leif Davis (\u00a34.0m) and Sasa Lukic (\u00a35.0m) appear off the bench.<\/p>\n Emersonn (\u00a35.5m) didn\u2019t feature, but that wasn\u2019t a surprise. O\u2019Neil had already said that he wouldn\u2019t risk the Brazilian due to a tight quad.<\/a><\/p>\n This wasn\u2019t a \u20182-4\u2019 game, really, nor did Ipswich really warrant going four goals down. The xG was 0.72-0.94, indeed!<\/p>\n Zian Flemming (\u00a35.5m), the match-winner at Palace, impressed up top, albeit without scoring and only registering a single shot. It\u2019s a hell of a tussle between him and Emersonn for the centre-forward role, but the latter seems to have the edge for now.<\/p>\n \u201cStill a bit to do with him on the understanding of the role, he\u2019s probably behind [Emersonn] and Chuba [Akpom] in that. He\u2019s obviously not been here as long, not had many training sessions. We\u2019ve had a lot of games since he\u2019s been here, so he hasn\u2019t been around loads of the training work, so it\u2019ll be good to get some of that into him.\u201d \u2013 Gary O\u2019Neil on Zian Flemming<\/p>\n There was yet another attacking return for Davis, even though he only appeared as a substitute. From a marauding run forward, the left-back\u2019s low cross was controlled and finished by Chuba Akpom (\u00a35.0m).<\/p>\n Left-winger Clarke looks set to start again in Gameweek 5, meanwhile. Impressive upon his introduction, he teed up Anis Mehmeti (\u00a34.9m) for Ipswich\u2019s first goal of the evening.<\/p>\n \u201cI was really pleased with him tonight. I was pleased with him at Palace. I wouldn\u2019t have changed him if he wasn\u2019t on a yellow card and the referee hadn\u2019t already sent off one of theirs. I thought it was a risk leaving him on. We\u2019ll try and get him ready for the weekend because he\u2019s in a good moment.<\/p>\n \u201cI think he definitely improved us when he came on.\u201d \u2013 Gary O\u2019Neil on Jack Clarke<\/p>\n Both Ipswich centre-backs hit the DefCon threshold, as did central midfielder Luis Florentino (\u00a34.9m).<\/p>\n FULHAM<\/p>\n More rotation here, with only the full-backs, Timothy Castagne (\u00a34.5m) and Antonee Robinson (\u00a34.5m), keeping their places. Even that was out of necessity, with Kenny Tete (\u00a34.4m) concussed<\/a> and Ryan Sessegnon (\u00a34.4m) injured<\/a>.<\/p>\n Of the other nine Gameweek 4 starters, only Shea Charles (\u00a35.0m), Gonzalo Garcia (\u00a36.0m), Josh King (\u00a35.5m) and Oscar Bobb (\u00a35.5m) appeared off the bench. The latter two combined for the winner, with Bobb latching onto King\u2019s dispossession before finishing.<\/p>\n After the surprise stalemate at Anfield on Saturday, the resumption of normal Fulham service! The five-goal thriller featured four big chances apiece, and the xG finished 1.63-2.48. Lots of exciting attacking play from the Cottagers, but a bit ropey at the back, which was more in keeping with what we saw in Gameweeks 1-3. Much-changed XIs from both sides, of course, no doubt contributed to the chaotic feeling of the game.<\/p>\n Cesar Palacios (\u00a35.4m) lost his place in Gameweek 4, failing to even appear off the bench against Liverpool, but he responded very well here with a goal and an assist. First crossing for Rodrigo Muniz (\u00a35.4m) to head in, he then latched onto a long Joachim Andersen (\u00a35.0m) pass to coolly finish. No player on show finished with more shots (four), chances created (two) or expected goal involvement (1.59) to their name than Palacios. He was a real livewire down the left, and should have scored again late on when rounding the \u2018keeper and firing wide.<\/p>\n AA: \u201cCesar had a very good game, good assist, good goal. He could have scored one or two more goals, and young players, like we have so many young players with talent, and we need to be patient with them, and I think we need to help them, to develop them.
