{"id":773429,"date":"2026-09-17T08:26:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T08:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/773429\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T08:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T08:26:09","slug":"vigil-takes-place-in-ascot-for-nepal-flash-flood-disaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/773429\/","title":{"rendered":"Vigil takes place in Ascot for Nepal flash flood disaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Nishan Sharma, who is from Bracknell and runs a pub in Ascot, said as he lit his candle at the vigil he was thinking &#8220;about the ones who lost their lives, and the ones that are still missing, and I prayed that hopefully they are alright&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Sharma, who has friends with families affected by the disaster, added: &#8220;It really means a lot to them and it means a lot for us as well to get this kind of support. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Honestly, this is from the bottom of our heart, we thank each and every one of them for all the support, not just financial, like emotional support, and all those things as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Sharada Gurung, chairlady of the Buddhist Community Centre UK, a Buddhist monastery in Aldershot, said: &#8220;It is a really sad and mourning time for all of us, especially because our country has been suffering from this natural disaster. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Before, a couple of years ago, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-asia-67317442\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an earthquake happened in our country<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Lots of people lost their lives.
