Whoopi Goldberg<\/a> has shared that she will be absent from several upcoming episodes of The View.<\/p>\n

Goldberg, 70, revealed news of her absence, which begins September 22, while speaking with The View<\/a> executive producer Brian Teta on the ABC daytime talk show\u2019s Behind the Table podcast. The hit show is currently celebrating its milestone 30th season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to lose you for a couple of days because you\u2019re going to be doing this movie,\u201d Teta said, referencing Netflix\u2019s Women Like Us. \u201cYou\u2019re going to be gone over the next two weeks but you\u2019ll be here on Mondays. And the next few weeks, we\u2019re going to have filling in for you, some of our friends, former co-hosts of The View.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Goldberg\u2019s absence<\/a>, several former co-hosts of The View will fill in, including Lisa Ling, Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd and Debbie Matenopoulos. Current co-host Joy Behar will step in as the panel\u2019s moderator while Goldberg is out.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoy\u2019s up for it,\u201d Teta said. \u201cShe\u2019s always excited to moderate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goldberg spoke about the film \u2014 which is being produced by Michelle Obama<\/a> \u2014 and the plot. \u201cIt\u2019s five really wonderful women \u2014 several of whom I\u2019ve worked with before,\u201d she told Teta. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about change and getting older and having fun with your friends and people who get you. It\u2019s about finding your people. I\u2019m excited to do it. It\u2019ll be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

This will not be the first time Goldberg takes a hiatus <\/a>from her co-hosting duties to film another project. She previously pressed pause on The View to work on the Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole and the Anansi Boys TV adaptation.<\/p>\n

Goldberg said during an August episode of Keke Palmer\u2019s podcast that she enjoys the flexibility<\/a> that doing The View provides as she continues to pursue other outside projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cI constantly say to people, \u2018Yes, I\u2019m still open for this.\u2019 And especially now, because people say, \u2018Well, you\u2019re on The View, you can\u2019t do anything.\u2019 If I need to go, I go,\u201d she told Palmer.<\/p>\n

Goldberg has served as the Hot Topics moderator on the show since 2007, holding the record for the most consecutive seasons as the program\u2019s host \u2014 even surpassing its creator, Barbara Walters.<\/p>\n

Aside from film and television, Goldberg recently expanded her literary footprint <\/a>with the launch of her book imprint, WhoopInk. She is planning to publish a sequel to her memoir on the imprint.<\/p>\n
