Harry’s Lounge and Bar Coast nightclub applied for a temporary event notice to host a boxing event on October 17 as the current licence for the venue does not cover boxing and wrestling entertainment.

An objection to the application came from Dorset Police, who raised concerns about the area’s history with alcohol-related crime and antisocial behaviour.

The plans were heard at a licensing committee meeting on September 15.

In an email seen by Local Democracy Reporting Service, BCP Council licensing officers confirmed that the temporary event notice has been approved.

During the meeting, the committee were told that the ring will be inside Bar Coast, while boxers and trainers will have a separate preparation area upstairs at Harry’s Lounge.

They were also told that the venues will be working with Sandbanks Security, and have increased security to ten SIA staff, covering entrances, exits, and dispersal.

Plans have also been strengthened around violence against women and girls, counter-terrorism, searches, incident management, and public safety.

Ticketing for the event will identify which boxer spectators are supporting, helping to anticipate numbers for each bout and manage a more controlled, staggered dispersal.

James Gordon, owner of Harry’s Lounge Sports Bar and Bar Coast Nightclub, said: “For me, this is bigger than one boxing event.

“Working closely with the police and licensing has helped us introduce measures that will make this event, our venues and future events safer.

“I’m passionate about Bournemouth and believe businesses and authorities working together is a positive step towards a safer and stronger town centre.”

Mr Gordon expressed his thanks to Sergeant Wood for his expertise and help on this matter, adding that he is “truly behind working with the police to ensure a safe event”.

He also thanked Danial Lockwood of Lockstock boxing promotions, Nick Bale the event director, and Dean Cooper from Sandbanks security for working on your in depth risk assessment and all the other documentation to ensure a safe event.

Harry’s Lounge and Bar Coast nightclub applied for a temporary event notice to host a boxing event on…

[41
2560,101,56,54,55
post-774898","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-boxing","tag-boxing","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
