John Torode has revealed that he was left “devastated” following the BBC\u2019s decision to sack him from MasterChef.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 61-year-old chef, who was born in Melbourne, presented the popular series for 20 years alongside Gregg Wallace.<\/a><\/p>\n

Torode was removed from the cooking competition last year after a review into Wallace, who was also dismissed over alleged misconduct, upheld an allegation that he used “highly offensive racist language”.<\/p>\n

It was later reported that the claims \u2013 which were upheld \u2013 related to a wrap party in 2019, when Torode sang along to the track \u201cGold Digger\u201d by Kanye West.<\/p>\n

Speaking during an interview with The Telegraph, Torode explained that he received the news via a call from his agent while he was on holiday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a shock,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shutters closed around me and I was devastated, absolutely, completely devastated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI put my heart and soul into that thing. I really worked very, very hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"FollowingFollowing his exit from the series, Torode established a YouTube channel \u2013 John and Lisa\u2019s Kitchen and Home \u2013 which he runs with his wife, EastEnders and Holby City actress Lisa Faulkner. (ITV)<\/p>\n

Torode described the BBC as \u201ca machine [that] spat me out\u201d, adding that in his entire time with the broadcaster \u201cnobody ever knocked on my door and said, \u2018You can\u2019t do this,\u2019 or \u2018This is a problem.\u2019 Never, ever, ever, ever, ever\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also ruled out taking any potential legal action over his dismissal.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo get embroiled in further conflict would only do damage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a situation that was so shocking, so out of the blue, that there was nothing to be done to make a change in any way and to heal was going to take time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Torode previously claimed that he no longer has any interactions with his former presenting partner.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we filmed, we filmed and when we didn\u2019t, we weren\u2019t in touch. Why would it change now?\u201d the Australian star, 61, said.<\/p>\n

The comment echoes what Torode said about the pair\u2019s relationship while MasterChef was still on the air. During an appearance on the BBC radio series Desert Island Discs, Torode stated: \u201c[Wallace is] a friend, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t go to the pub with him, we’ve both not been to each other’s houses… we just don’t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following his exit from the series, Torode established a YouTube channel \u2013 John and Lisa\u2019s Kitchen and Home \u2013 which he runs with his wife, EastEnders and Holby City actress Lisa Faulkner.<\/p>\n
