{"id":775852,"date":"2026-09-19T14:22:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T14:22:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/775852\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T14:22:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T14:22:09","slug":"mumbles-dolphin-rescue-sees-medics-refloat-stranded-mammal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/775852\/","title":{"rendered":"Mumbles dolphin rescue sees medics refloat stranded mammal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Two dolphins spotted thrashing in shallow water sparked an emergency rescue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The female common dolphins were stranded off Mumbles, Swansea, with one given first aid by marine mammal medics and moved to deeper water on 2 September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The other managed to free itself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Following advice from our rescue coordinators and veterinary advisor, a carefully controlled refloat was authorised,&#8221; the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Strandings happen when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cgkr84d02ego\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">marine animal becomes stuck in shallow water<\/a> or on a shoreline. The often result in the animal&#8217;s death or injury. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">BDMLR said a call to its rescue hotline described &#8220;two dolphins stuck and thrashing in the shallows&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two dolphins spotted thrashing in shallow water sparked an emergency rescue.
