{"id":775906,"date":"2026-09-19T15:34:10","date_gmt":"2026-09-19T15:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/775906\/"},"modified":"2026-09-19T15:34:10","modified_gmt":"2026-09-19T15:34:10","slug":"emre-gulers-disciplinary-position-explained-after-play-off-freeze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/775906\/","title":{"rendered":"Emre Guler&#8217;s disciplinary position explained after &#8216;play-off freeze&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emre Guler faces a nervy wait to discover whether he will be free to play for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loverugbyleague.com\/club\/wakefield-trinity\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wakefield Trinity<\/a> in the play-offs following his red card on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The prop was sent off for striking Owen Trout in a tackle, resulting in a red card that left his side down to 12-men for the final quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully for Guler and Wakefield, it did not impact their progress to the semi-finals as they saw out the match to win 26-16, with a trip to Wigan or Leeds now on the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Before the play-offs, the Rugby Football League confirmed that all disciplinary points had been frozen for players, essentially meaning they would enter the finals series on zero points.<\/p>\n<p>But crucially, any points accrued in the play-offs do count and with that, Guler is at risk of being suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Players are suspended once they receive six penalty points and with that, Guler would need to received a charge of Grade D or higher to be within the threshold of a suspension.<\/p>\n<p>If he did received a Grade D charge, he would miss one match as it would come with eleven disciplinary points, one fewer than the standard 12 due to being sent off in the second half of the game.<\/p>\n<p>An E charge would see him suspended for two matches and therefore ruled out of the rest of the play-offs.<\/p>\n<p>Wakefield and Guler will learn their fate on Monday when the Match Review Panel get together.<\/p>\n<p>It would be a big blow for Daryl Powell\u2019s side, with Guler providing big minutes from the start and quickly integrating into what was already a very good Wakefield pack.<\/p>\n<p>Mike McMeeken played in the back-row against Leigh and could return to a more central position if required, alternatively, Trinity could turn to Tray Lolesio if Guler is ruled out, though he has been described as doubtful to feature due to a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n<p>However, for now at least, Wakefield will simply hope they can call on the former NRL forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Emre Guler faces a nervy wait to discover whether he will be free to play for Wakefield Trinity&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":775907,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[35],"tags":[5903,101,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-775906","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-rugby","tag-rugby","tag-sports","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/775906","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=775906"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/775906\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/775907"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=775906"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=775906"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=775906"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
