{"id":776638,"date":"2026-09-20T09:10:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T09:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/776638\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T09:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T09:10:11","slug":"jaguar-land-rover-suppliers-call-for-shift-to-aerospace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/776638\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguar Land Rover suppliers call for shift to aerospace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The group, which includes Coventry-based Evtec, Solihull-based Artifex and the Confederation of British Metal Forming, said suppliers faced rising energy costs, growing overseas competition and increasing pressure from vehicle manufacturers sourcing components abroad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">David Roberts, chairman of Evtec, said manufacturers believed high-volume car production in the UK was entering a decade of decline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Speaking on BBC Politics Midlands, he said: &#8220;We want to take action today rather than wait for that to happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Roberts argued there was a &#8220;very big opportunity&#8221; for manufacturers to redirect skills, factories and investment into the UK&#8217;s expanding aerospace and defence sectors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The letter said automotive suppliers already possessed many of the capabilities needed to support aircraft, defence equipment and military vehicles, but warned firms needed help to make the transition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The capacity exists. The people exist.
