Doctor Who fans are calling for Daniel Craig to swap his tuxedo for a trench coat and take on the role of the Time Lord<\/a>. Ncuti Gatwa left the iconic sci-fi role in 2025<\/a> during the season two finale, ‘The Reality War’, leaving fans of the long-running BBC show itching to know who will take over.<\/p>\n

Craig, meanwhile, famously exited the James Bond franchise in 2021 with his fifth film<\/a>, No Time to Die.<\/p>\n

He is set to appear in Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Chronicles of Narnia film, The Magician’s Nephew, as Andrew Ketterley, with a first-look image showing the Hollywood star in character.<\/p>\n

As a joke, the X page DiscussingFish<\/a> shared a picture of Craig as Ketterley, seemingly baring a striking resemblance to the Doctor in the TARDIS, with the caption reading: “First look at Daniel Craig as The Doctor in Doctor Who?<\/p>\n

“The series will act as reboot to attract new audiences. Tony Gilroy (Andor) will serve as showrunner.”<\/p>\n

Many found the post hilarious, while others thought they were really onto something and began their own fan campaign for the actor to pick up a Sonic Screwdriver and join the cast. <\/p>\n

“He would be a good doctor tho,” one user<\/a> wrote, while another agreed<\/a>, “I know this is discussingfish but Daniel Craig would actually make a great Doctor.”<\/p>\n

A third<\/a> reasoned: “Let\u2019s be real, if Craig was the doctor we\u2019d get a huge boost in viewing for the show – he\u2019s a global household name for obvious reasons. <\/p>\n

“Whilst I get he may not be \u201cDoctory\u201d, the trade off for the show having a safer future would be worth it. Also he\u2019s a good actor so\u2026”<\/p>\n

Sharing the original post, one person<\/a> put: “I would\u2019ve actually loved to see Daniel Craig as the Doctor in a Benoit Blanc style of character \ud83d\ude41 That\u2019s mean.”<\/p>\n

‘The Reality War’ ended with Gatwa’s character regenerating into Billie Piper<\/a>, who famously played The Doctor’s companion Rose Tyler from 2005 and 2006, returning for a few guest appearances since. It’s unclear whether she will be taking on the role.<\/p>\n

In the world of Bond, the rumour mill is still in full swing<\/a> as to who will be having their martini shaken, not stirred.<\/p>\n

Most recently, it appeared Gary Oldman hinted that the role has been filled<\/a>, and championed his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden<\/a> for Bond.<\/p>\n

Writer Steven Knight has remained tight-lipped on the subject when grilled about it in interviews, but producer Amy Pascal said people will know who is set to play Bond<\/a> by the end of the year.<\/p>\n
