Bryson DeChambeau is one of the biggest global stars in the professional game.<\/p>\n

However, DeChambeau is currently in limbo regarding his future, with LIV Golf set to operate on a much smaller scale moving forward.<\/p>\n

It will be very interesting to see what the 33-year-old American actually decides to do next year.<\/p>\n

Will Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> continue on the watered down version of LIV Golf<\/a>? Or will he push himself and try to earn his way back to the PGA Tour<\/a>?<\/p>\n

There is another option, of course. DeChambeau may decide to focus entirely on his content creation on YouTube, as well as playing in the four major championships.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that DeChambeau plans to play on LIV Golf 2.0<\/a> next year, despite many of the bigger names set to jump ship from the league.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, while many of LIV Golf\u2019s big names are playing in the BMW PGA Championship<\/a> this week, the two-time US Open champion has been at home in Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n

So, what does DeChambeau choosing not to play in England actually mean?<\/p>\n

Now, DeChambeau could easily have played at Wentworth this week.<\/p>\n

He may not be a DP World Tour member, but the two-time US Open champion would have undoubtedly been a candidate to receive one of the sponsor\u2019s exemptions into the field.<\/p>\n

The fact that he isn\u2019t competing in England this week while the likes of Jon Rahm, Joaquin Niemann and Tyrrell Hatton are proves to me that playing competitive golf in the future might not be his priority.<\/p>\n

With the American set to remain with LIV Golf from 2027 onwards, he could face some big problems moving forward.<\/p>\n

The issue for DeChambeau is that his exemption into three of the major championships for winning the US Open in 2024 will expire in 2029.<\/p>\n

He is, of course, exempt to play in the US Open until 2034.<\/p>\n

However, in order to keep playing in the other three majors beyond 2029, the 33-year-old American needs to either win one of them within the next three years or remain inside the top 50 in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

The latter could prove to be extremely challenging for DeChambeau.<\/p>\n

Bryson DeChambeau faces world ranking issue in the future<\/p>\n

The LIV Golf star is currently ranked 36th in the world. However, with weaker fields expected on LIV next season and beyond, the world ranking points up for grabs will drop off significantly.<\/p>\n

Also, it has even been claimed that because there are no longer any pathways to LIV Golf due to the Asian Tour\u2019s new partnership with the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, the league\u2019s world ranking points could be scrapped altogether.<\/p>\n

Bryson DeChambeau has some big decisions to make over the course of the next year or so.<\/p>\n

Does he want to focus on playing competitive golf and try to cement his legacy by winning more major championships?<\/p>\n

Or does he want to focus on the content creation side of things?<\/p>\n

The fact that Bryson DeChambeau chose not to play in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week tells us that his focus may well lie elsewhere from playing competitive golf in the future.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s fine. It\u2019s obviously his prerogative to do what he wants. However, if he doesn\u2019t focus entirely on playing competitive golf, it will be a real shame for the fans who will miss out on watching the box-office entertainment that he provides. <\/p>\n
