England’s Charlotte Heath held off Alessandra Fanali and compatriot Alice Hewson to win her first Ladies European Tour title with a two-shot victory at the La Sella Open in Alicante.<\/p>\n
Severe weather on Saturday had forced tournament officials to reduce the event to 54 holes, with the final round taking place on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Heath, who had shot a seven-under-par 65 on Friday to take a four-stroke lead, made three bogeys before sinking a crucial birdie at the last for a one-over 73 to end at 10-under.<\/p>\n
Fanali came up just short with a final round of four under while Hewson tied for second after closing with a 70, both finishing at eight under overall.<\/p>\n
There were several Irish in action with Lauren Walsh finishing the best in tied seventh position on five under par. Aine Donegan finished tied for 35th position on one-over par while Sara Byrne finished tied 42nd position on two-over par.
