\n Hand, from Eden Golf Club, was part of the England squad that defeated Scotland, Wales and Ireland at Royal St David\u2019s Golf Club in Wales.\n<\/p>\n
\n Both the women\u2019s and men\u2019s teams made it a clean sweep to help England regain the title.\n<\/p>\n
\n They beat Scotland 11.5 – 6.5 on day one, before seeing off Wales 12 – 6 on Wednesday \u2013 and then sealed victory with a 10.5 – 7.5 win over Ireland on the final day.\n<\/p>\n
\n Hand\u2019s victories included a 3&2 triumph alongside John Kennedy in their foursomes match against Welsh duo Richard Tayler and Alistair Mason.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Cumbrian was all-square in his singles encounter with Scotland\u2019s Kenneth Gallacher.\n<\/p>\n
\n Half a point was also added as Hand and Kennedy drew their foursomes match with Scottish duo Paul Moultrie and Bryan Innes.\n<\/p>\n
\n Hand went down to defeats in singles and foursomes matches against Ireland and his singles match against Wales.\n<\/p>\n

\n But his efforts helped ensure England claimed the title over a dramatic weekend.\n<\/p>\n
\n England Golf senior women’s Captain Janet Melville said: “It was like a helter skelter on the course on the final day.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The women won all three morning foursomes and got two early afternoon points to seal victory in the women\u2019s event \u2013 with Sally Shayler adding a vital half-point winning the last two holes in her match.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The men lost all their morning foursomes so needed to win 5 matches out of 6 to win their match – so it was an amazing comeback in the afternoon singles to seal victory.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There was fantastic team spirit and fabulous golf – it was a wonderful team effort.”\n<\/p>\n
