The man who may stand to make the most money from the AI boom seems to think he knows better than anyone else, including researchers<\/a> who have studied and worked on AI<\/a> for decades. In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning<\/a>, he claimed there was a \u201c0% chance\u201d of AI being the end of the world<\/a>. He also said of people sounding the alarm about the dangers of AI that, \u201cScaring people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also claims that calls from CEOs like Anthropic\u2019s Dario Amodei and OpenAI\u2019s Sam Altman to slow down<\/a> the development of AI are \u201cnot grounded in science.\u201d He even argued that there was no need for new rules, laws, or guidelines, in the face of several high-profile cases in which models escaped containment and hacked other companies.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not surprising that Huang was dismissive of the dangers posed by rogue AI and concerns about selling chips to China, or that he adamantly opposed new regulation<\/a>. He is the CEO of the world\u2019s most valuable company and number seven on Forbes<\/a>\u2019 list of the richest people in the world. Just as importantly, his wealth has skyrocketed from an estimated $21 billion in 2023 to over $192 billion in 2026. Any hiccup in the unchecked expansion of the AI industry could slow his ascent.<\/p>\n
