Muse<\/a>\u00a0have had to change their social media handles to make way for Meta\u2019s new\u00a0AI<\/a>\u00a0tool.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Devon rock icons changed their handle on X\/Twitter and Instagram<\/a> from @Muse<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0@Musetheband<\/a>, allowing Meta\u2019s new AI tool, also called Muse, to take on their former usernames.<\/p>\n

The initial change caused much confusion and discussion among fans online. Some pointed out the irony of the switch, given frontman Matt Bellamy<\/a>\u2018s penchant for dystopian lyrics, with their albums \u2018Simulation Theory\u2019<\/a> and \u2018Drones\u2019<\/a>\u00a0including references to algorithms and technology taking over.<\/p>\n

Now, Muse have commented on the name change. In an interview with iHeartRadio<\/a>, Bellamy said that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had sent him \u201cthe beta version of the AI\u201d ahead of its launch, adding of the tech giant: \u201cHe\u2019s alright, he\u2019s not too bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

The interviewer then clarified that Meta didn\u2019t \u201cjust steal\u201d the username, to which Bellamy responded: \u201cNo, no. We had a chat. He invited me to meet him, and we had a chat.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a trademark thing. So I said, \u2018don\u2019t touch music, don\u2019t touch merchandise\u2019, so I can sell Muse AI T-shirts, but I can\u2019t make a Muse AI, basically.\u201d<\/p>\n

The AI assistant, which was rolled out in the United States this week, is designed to assist users with everyday tasks including responding to emails, making schedules, and converting long-term goals into action plans.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0gave Muse\u2019s latest album \u2018The Wow! Bellamy also recently told\u00a0NME\u00a0<\/a>that the album found him leaning into \u201cthe unknown\u201d after a difficult personal period and split from his wife, saying: \u201cI can\u2019t live without music \u2013 that feeling came back to me on this album.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The interview also saw Bellamy\u00a0look back on the \u201900s guitar rock scene<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0share plans for \u201cbuilding a spaceship\u201d<\/a>\u00a0for their upcoming UK and European arena tour.<\/p>\n
