Bryson DeChambeau\u2019s future with LIV Golf remains up in the air right now.<\/p>\n

There have been rumors that DeChambeau could look to return to the PGA Tour, with LIV Golf set to scale down the size of their operation from the start of the 2027 season onwards.<\/p>\n

Nobody knows where the two-time US Open champion will actually be playing his golf next year, but the sad thing for him is that he may have already burned his bridges. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth remembering that Bryson DeChambeau<\/a> turned down the chance to come back to the PGA Tour<\/a> in January of this year after Brian Rolapp created the Returning Member Program.<\/p>\n

Rolapp has since suggested that he has no plans right now to bring that program back.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau left the PGA Tour in order to join LIV Golf<\/a> way back in June 2022.<\/p>\n

And although he has seemingly loved his time with LIV, it is still not certain that the 33-year-old will commit to the new version of the league, with Saudi Arabia\u2019s PIF having withdrawn their financial support.<\/p>\n

It has been claimed that DeChambeau has spoken with PGA Tour officials<\/a> about a potential return.<\/p>\n

While that appears to be a long way off from happening, there is a chance that he could one day come back.<\/p>\n

However, at the same time, there is a real argument to be made that that ship has sailed.<\/p>\n

Numbers prove the PGA Tour does not need Bryson DeChambeau<\/p>\n

Interestingly, there was a big dip in viewing figures in 2024 after the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

However, things turned around in 2025, with weekend viewing figures rising to 2.6 million on average.<\/p>\n

And things got even better for the PGA Tour this year.<\/p>\n

Coverage of PGA Tour events in 2026 over the weekend, excluding the four major championships, averaged 2.7 million viewers on both CBS and NBC.<\/p>\n

After yet another increase, the question has to be asked: Does the PGA Tour even need Bryson DeChambeau anymore?<\/p>\n

I would suggest the answer to that question is a resounding \u2018no\u2019.<\/p>\n

Now, most golf fans enjoy watching DeChambeau play, whether they actually like him or not.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to argue that he isn\u2019t additive to professional golf, what with his thrilling playing style and knack for becoming entwined in controversy almost every time he steps on the golf course.<\/p>\n

However, there is a case to be made that the cons associated with DeChambeau far outweigh the pros. You only have to look at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in July for evidence of that.<\/p>\n

The proof is in the pudding. As exciting as Bryson DeChambeau can be to watch, the PGA Tour already has enough interesting characters and world-class golfers to ensure that their product remains in high demand.<\/p>\n

The fact that the viewership figures have risen over the past two years proves that.<\/p>\n

Sure, we would all love to see DeChambeau drawn alongside Rory McIlroy in a PGA Tour event. But would it be worth it, with the amount of baggage he brings to every tournament in which he plays?<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think it would, and I believe the PGA Tour leadership is of the same opinion.<\/p>\n

Bryson DeChambeau\u2019s stock was at its highest after his US Open win at Pinehurst in 2024. However, it\u2019s fair to say that he has now reached a stage where he\u2019s more trouble than he\u2019s actually worth, unfortunately.<\/p>\n
