{"id":778968,"date":"2026-09-22T14:56:16","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/778968\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T14:56:16","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:56:16","slug":"bradford-women-invited-to-join-periods-research-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/778968\/","title":{"rendered":"Bradford women invited to join periods research project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Researchers in Bradford hope up to 3,000 women in the district will take part in a major study on periods and the menstrual cycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The CycleTrack project, run by health research organisation Born in Bradford (BiB), aims to determine why some women experience more difficult periods than others and how they can receive faster diagnoses and more effective treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It will include women aged 18 and over who experience normal periods, as well as those living with pain, heavy bleeding and conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">BiB&#8217;s Salma Chopdat said: &#8220;The idea really came from recognising that menstrual health has been overlooked for a very long time in research and clinical practice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Chopdat, a BiB community research coordinator, said: &#8220;Periods have a huge impact on everyday life, whether that&#8217;s going to work, going to school, getting on with everyday things, socialising, exercising&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;So it does have a big impact on your life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We&#8217;d like 3,000 women to take part, that&#8217;s including the 18-year-olds as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Obviously we&#8217;re still at the inception phase at the moment, we&#8217;re still at the very early stages of sending the questionnaires out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Then there will be the testing and everything that goes along with any research.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Researchers in Bradford hope up to 3,000 women in the district will take part in a major study&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":778969,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[10],"tags":[59,102,56,54,55],"class_list":["post-778968","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health","tag-gb","tag-health","tag-uk","tag-united-kingdom","tag-unitedkingdom"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/778968","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=778968"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/778968\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/778969"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=778968"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=778968"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=778968"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
