\n Lindsey Ross-Atherton was diagnosed with stage 3c breast cancer, in July 2023, whilst she was on maternity leave with her youngest son.\n<\/p>\n
\n She had to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, all whilst she was supposed to be enjoying time with her new baby.\n<\/p>\n
\n Then, in June of this year, an\u00a0incidental finding during a CT scan of her chest led to a further diagnosis of stage four breast cancer, which had also spread to her liver.\n<\/p>\n
\n Lindsey said: “There is so much that consultants and oncologists do not tell you, unless you ask specific questions, so it’s so important to advocate for yourself and ask them.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The mum of three has undergone treatments on the NHS; however, these are no longer effective on their own \u2014 leading Lindsey, and her friends and family, to look into alternative options.\n<\/p>\n
\n There are different treatments available both in the UK and abroad, however these come at a cost.\n<\/p>\n

\n Lindsey’s friends have come together to fundraise and highlight her story, in the hope that they may be able to raise enough money for her to receive treatment in Germany.\n<\/p>\n
\n Juliette Kenny is one of Lindsey’s friends, having met her at a dance class at Mr Smiths in Warrington, 23 years ago.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: \u201cLindsey is the strongest person I know.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cShe doesn\u2019t like to ask for help, and she\u2019s often the helper and the protector of our friendship group.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWe just want to rally around our friend and do everything we can to get her that treatment.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Lindsey is mum to three boys: Ethan aged eight, Caleb aged six, and Owen aged three.\n<\/p>\n
\n The hope is that the treatment in Germany will shrink the tumour, giving Lindsey more time to watch her children grow up.\n<\/p>\n
\n Lindsey said: “I’m not done yet. My boys need me, and I hope, more than anything, that I can see them grow up.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Even throughout her diagnosis, Lindsey has continued to fundraise for cancer charities such as Cancer Research.\n<\/p>\n

\n She completed the Born Survivor obstacle course whilst undergoing treatment, ‘to prove that she still could’.\n<\/p>\n
\n Lindsey has a big passion for exercise and dance, something she has continued to do, even through her current battle, alongside continuing to work.\n<\/p>\n
\n She is trying to raise awareness about the importance of checking yourself, and being open minded to alternative treatment options.\n<\/p>\n
\n Juliette added: \u201cDespite everything she is going through, she is still positive, and passionate about helping other people.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cWe just want to do something for her.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
