\n Medicare EMS, founded in June 2006, provides “world-class” pre-hospital care and education across the UK.\n<\/p>\n
\n It offers medical support at venues and racecourses throughout the country, as well as providing ongoing support for the NHS.\n<\/p>\n
\n The company describes itself as “more than just a service provider” on its website<\/a>, emphasising its commitment to supporting NHS ambulance services, delivering medical education, and safeguarding event attendees and staff.\n<\/p>\n \n Medicare EMS operates from three locations in Chelmsford, Coventry, and Hartlepool.\n<\/p>\n \n The company had expanded earlier this year with the acquisition of UK Event Medical Services (UKEMS) and Elite EMS in March.\n<\/p>\n \n At the time, Medicare EMS said: “These strategic additions mark a bold step forward, combining our collective expertise to create a stronger, more versatile organization dedicated to patient care and service innovation.”\n<\/p>\n Medicare EMS enters administration after 20 years<\/p>\n \n Despite this expansion, Medicare EMS has now entered administration.\n<\/p>\n \n Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint administrators on September 16, according to The Gazette<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n What happens when a company goes into administration?<\/p>\n \n When a company enters administration<\/a>, it means that it is unable to pay expenses, debts, or\u00a0other\u00a0liabilities, according to SquareUp.com<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \n Companies House<\/a> adds: “When a company goes into administration, they have entered a legal process (under the Insolvency Act 1986) with the aim of achieving one of the statutory objectives of an administration. This may be to rescue a viable business that is insolvent due to cashflow problems.\n<\/p>\n \n “An appointment of an administrator (a licensed insolvency practitioner) will be made by directors, a creditor or the court to fulfil the administration process.”\n<\/p>\n \n A statutory moratorium is put in place once a company enters administration, giving it “breathing space” to allow for financial restructuring plans to be drawn up free from creditor enforcement actions.\n<\/p>\n \n A company can continue to trade while in administration, but daily management and control are handed over to the administrators.\n<\/p>\n \n Companies House continues: “Within 8 weeks it is the administrators\u2019 role to formulate administration proposals.\n<\/p>\n \n “Creditors are then asked to vote by a decision procedure to approve the administrators\u2019 proposals.\n<\/p>\n \n “If the administration involves a sale of all or part of the company\u2019s business, the proceeds (after the costs of the procedure) will be distributed to creditors in a statutory order of priority.”\n<\/p>\n \n Administration will end automatically after 12 months unless the administrator asks the court or creditors for an extension.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n Through administration, a company can be:\n<\/p>\n Rescued and passed back to the directors<\/p>\n Enter liquidation<\/p>\n Be dissolved<\/p>\n Other UK companies that have closed or entered administration\/liquidation in 2026<\/p>\n \n It has been a tough year for the UK high street, with several other retailers entering administration or liquidation and others announcing widespread store closures.\n<\/p>\n \n Major high street brands LK Bennett<\/a>, Claire’s<\/a>, and Quiz<\/a> have been forced to close all their remaining stores after falling into administration.\n<\/p>\n \n UK fashion retailer Leading Labels<\/a> is also set to close its remaining 15 stores after falling into liquidation in May.\n<\/p>\n \n Whitbread closed all its standalone UK restaurants earlier this month:\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n TG Jones<\/a> and the British Heart Foundation<\/a> will also be closing around 150 stores each across the UK.\n<\/p>\n \n Wynsors World of Shoes<\/a> is shutting 17 stores across the UK, with closing down sales already underway at several affected branches.\n<\/p>\n \n Other retailers have been forced to close stores this year, including:\n<\/p>\n \n Several UK travel companies have ceased trading or entered administration in 2026:\n<\/p>\n \n Wayfairer Travel Limited<\/a> has also suspended all services “until further notice” as it looks to appoint an administrator.\n<\/p>\n \n Meanwhile, four UK airlines have fallen into administration or liquidation:\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \n UK delivery company Yodel is set to be phased out<\/a> after being acquired by InPost.\n<\/p>\n \n It’s also been reported that Morrisons<\/a> is looking to sell some of its in-store pharmacies as it continues to cut costs.\n<\/p>\n
