Mike D<\/a> reunited with Beastie Boys<\/a> collaborators Money Mark and Mix Master Mike at a gig in LA last night (September 21).<\/p>\n

The trio reunited for a rendition of 1992 single \u2018So What\u2019cha Want\u2019 at The Belasco at the end of Mike D\u2019s set.<\/p>\n

Opening with Mark on keyboard, they launched into the track before leaping in the air throughout. You can view foootage below.<\/p>\n

Mark was best known for working with the Beastie Boys on their albums from 1992-2011 while Mike also worked on a number of their albums and is currently the band\u2019s resident DJ.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

During his set, Mike D also performed Beastie Boys\u2019 \u2018Hello Brooklyn\u2019, \u2018Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun\u2019, \u20183-Minute Rule\u2019 and \u2018Body Movin\u201d alongside tracks from his debut solo album \u2018Thank You<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

The rapper dropped the record last month, which notably did not feature his former Beastie Boys bandmate, Ad-Rock.<\/p>\n

He recently explained his bandmate\u2019s omission<\/a> telling Consequence<\/a> that he waited until he was \u201creally committed\u201d to making the album until he \u201chad to call Adam and tell him. It\u2019s almost like I was calling [and] telling him I was in a relationship or something. I guess I was\u00a0 I was in a relationship with making a record.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mike D went on to say that Ad-Rock \u201ccouldn\u2019t have been sweeter\u201d about the news, adding: \u201cHe was just very supportive, and then we also joked around and he said, \u2018Oh, yeah, I\u2019m trying to figure out what I\u2019m going to do. I\u2019m playing some drums.\u2019 So it was nice. I\u2019m glad that we had that conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also told Consequence that there was never any intention to bring Ad-Rock onto the project, explaining: \u201cI would have felt weird about it and I think he would have felt weird about it, and why go there? Let\u2019s just be clear and be honest, it was very important to me that I make my own record.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked whether he felt the pressure of being the first Beastie Boy to go solo, Mike D recently told <\/a>NME<\/a>: \u201cTo be honest, there was no race to the finish line on that one! I\u2019m still thankfully good friends with Ad-Rock and he\u2019s not racing me on this one. It wasn\u2019t until I had to sit down and do the first interview that I realised that was a thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe way I describe the record is that musically it\u2019s still pretty immature, and lyrically it\u2019s a little bit more mature. I just feel like there\u2019s more of the things I had to tap into. I had to learn how to feel all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Reviewing the record, NME awarded it a four-star review<\/a>. \u201cHis true solo potential will be revealed when he goes on to push harder on his extremes, but what you have in \u2018Thank You\u2019 is a solid and joyful return to be grateful for.
