A council has asked for the public\u2019s help in finding who dumped a caravan filled with a \u201cwhirlwind of waste\u201d on a busy main road.<\/p>\n
The tourer was abandoned in a lay-by on the A52 near Saxondale Island on Monday this week, with an image from Rushcliffe Borough Council showing it packed with cardboard boxes.<\/p>\n
A statement from the council said: \u201cA whirlwind of waste has made its way onto a layby on the A52 near Saxondale Island in the form of a caravan ironically named Tornado.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s full of household waste items and we need your help to trace who has irresponsibly dumped it and blighted the area. The vehicle is believed to have been left at the location on or before Monday, September 21 and we want to trace its owner.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area on that day, or from residents and motorists who may recognise the caravan or recall suspicious activity in the lay-by.\u201d<\/p>\n
One councillor said this was the second time a caravan had been ditched in the area this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a gold caravan close by a few months ago,\u201d Cllr Debbie Soloman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd it was absolutely heaving with rubbish. The thing is, you have to be really careful moving it because you just don\u2019t know what\u2019s in there.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut fly-tipping a caravan is terrible. It\u2019s terrible that it\u2019s the second incident of a different caravan being dumped on the roadside, filled to the brim with fly-tipped rubbish.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we have to get it removed at a significant cost to Rushcliffe\u2019s taxpayers.\u201d<\/p>\n
There were 1,086 recorded fly-tipping incidents in Rushcliffe in 2025, with fixed penalty notices (FPN) for leaving rubbish on public land in the district starting at \u00a3500. Fines increase should the amount go unpaid and the council starts court proceedings.<\/p>\n
