Players who haven\u2019t yet experienced Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown<\/a> can play the entire game for free right now on Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 until September 30.<\/p>\n

Ubisoft Montpellier’s 2D Metroidvania-style Prince of Persia game can be downloaded for free<\/a> in its entirety as a playable demo starting at 10 AM PT today, September 24, through Wednesday, September 30 at 11:59 PM PT.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need to be a Nintendo Switch Online member to take advantage of this wild offer, though. There\u2019s more to it than just the game, too, though that in itself is a massive deal; members can also earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points by completing a mission in the game during this trial period.<\/p>\n

And like many other modern game demos, you\u2019ll be able to carry over your save data from this trial if you end up buying the full game.<\/p>\n

If you haven\u2019t played it yet, it\u2019s definitely worth a try; we at IGN scored the game a glowing eight out of 10<\/a>, praising the title for capturing \u201cnot only what made games such as The Sands of Time so good,\u201d but also ironing out \u201cthe little issues that plagued the 3D games in this series by opting for a 2D perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a refreshing take on the iconic series, and one that\u2019s well worth a shot \u2014 but despite receiving critical acclaim, Ubisoft disbanded the team<\/a> behind the game after it failed to meet sales expectations, and plans for a sequel were also reportedly scrapped in favor of putting its developers on other projects<\/a> (like Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is still in development and recently added a writer<\/a> from Assassin’s Creed Shadows to its ranks).<\/p>\n

Since then, the game has received a few new modes<\/a>, updates, story DLC, and even a mobile port<\/a>, though the possibility of a sequel remains grim. There\u2019s hope that renewed interest in the title, thanks to free demos like this one and multiple big sales over the years, could sway Ubisoft\u2019s opinion\u2026 but it\u2019s not looking likely. <\/p>\n
