{"id":782042,"date":"2026-09-25T09:56:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-25T09:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/782042\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T09:56:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T09:56:15","slug":"betty-the-cold-stunned-turtle-set-for-azores-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/782042\/","title":{"rendered":"Betty the &#8216;cold-stunned&#8217; turtle set for Azores release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A rare loggerhead turtle found &#8220;cold-stunned&#8221; after coastal storms is preparing to return to the sea after seven months of recovery and rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Named Betty by her carers, the turtle was mistaken for &#8220;debris&#8221; on Dunwich beach in Suffolk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cx202gl4pqko\" class=\"ssrcss-1e0jzsh-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">by a member of the public<\/a> in February who called the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She was transferred to Hunstanton Sea Life Centre in Norfolk, where a second loggerhead turtle, called Olive, has been under care since December.
