A shared passion for entrepreneurship has brought two Durban best friends together to collaborate and contribute to the growth of the city\u2019s local business community.<\/p>\n
Miona Naicker and Rene Naidoo ventured into the beauty industry by establishing Simply Summer.<\/p>\n
They say working together was a natural choice to get the business off the ground, inspiring them to collaborate with local businesses and strengthen the community.<\/p>\n
Naicker says unity and sharing the same goal have carried them through tough times.<\/p>\n
\u201dI actually dreamt about this business. The next morning, I woke up, and I was like, \u2018Rene, I just had this dream and I believe that God put this in my mind, and do you want to start this together?\u2019 And she was like, \u2018Of course.\u2019 And that’s basically how the business came about. It was actually the easiest decision,\u201d says Naicker.<\/p>\n
\u201cRene and I have been a constant in each other’s lives for such a long time, through the good and the bad, so there’s a huge amount of trust between us. And, if everybody knows us, they know we are not one without the other.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: Ramokgopa proposes direct free electricity support for poor households<\/a><\/p>\n Naidoo says collaboration can give local businesses an opportunity to grow together.<\/p>\n \u201c\u200aWe always felt it was never a competition between each business, because we know with local businesses, it’s really hard for us to make it out there and for everybody to see, including different businesses.<\/p>\n \u201cBut with customer base and with the following that we have, we get to show that to another business that may not have it, and we get to be introduced to them as well.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to show the community that it’s not always the big brands that make us a business or make us a business that people want to see. It’s the ones that people don’t really know about. It’s the ones people don’t really see often.
