<\/p>\nMarshall Munetsi and Tawanda Chirewa both starred for Zimbabwe on Thursday evening as they helped their country to an incredible Africa Cup of Nations qualification fightback.<\/p>\n
The Zimbabwean pair were two of six Wolves players who were in action last night competing in AFCON qualifiers as well as the opening games of the Nations League in Europe and North America.<\/p>\n
With several other members of Cesar Peixoto\u2019s squad get their September\/October international campaigns underway in the coming days, wolves.co.uk rounds up all how the players have got on so far this week.<\/p>\n
Tawanda Chirewa & Marshall Munetsi | Sierra Leone 2-3 Zimbabwe<\/p>\n
The September\/October internationals could not have started much better for Wolves\u2019 Zimbabwe pair of Chirewa and Munetsi as the duo were pivotal in guiding their country to victory in their AFCON qualification opener. Finding themselves 2-0 down heading into the final 20 minutes, Chirewa and Munetsi staged an unbelievable comeback, with the forward picking out his midfield teammate from a corner, who headed home powerfully to reduce to deficit to one. It was then Chirewa\u2019s turn to find the net himself four minutes later when his shot from the edge of the box rocketed past the Sierra Leone \u2018keeper. With just two minutes of the 90 remaining, Munetsi was the hero for the Warriors as he raced onto a cross into the box to secure the most epic of late wins for his country. Zimbabwe\u2019s second game of qualifying will be on Monday (28th September, 5pm) against DR Congo.<\/p>\n

Ghislain Konan | Ivory Coast 2-0 Ghana<\/p>\n
One of the newest members of the Old Gold squad, Ghislain Konan, was also in international duty last night, playing the whole 90 minutes of Ivory Coast\u2019s 2-0 win over Ghana. Lining up at left back, as he so regularly does for his country, Konan was a solid force in the backline to keep a clean sheet, meaning Malick Yalcouye and Franck Kessie\u2019s goals put the Ivorians to the top of AFCON qualification Group C. Konan and his teammates will travel to Somalia for their second qualifier of the month on Tuesday (29th September, 8pm).<\/p>\n
Jordan James | Portugal 1-0 Wales<\/p>\n
Another new addition to Peixoto\u2019s squad this summer is Welsh midfielder Jordan James, and he was back in his national team squad having missed the summer matches due to injury. James was facing off against some very familiar faces to Wolves supporters, as former Old Gold stars Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto and Vitinha were in the Portugal team which claimed a 1-0 win in the UEFA Nations League opener thanks to Joao Felix\u2019s strike midway through the first half. James played the opening 77 minutes for his country before being replaced by Hull City\u2019s Sorba Thomas. Wales\u2019 second of four Nations League Group A4 matches see them travel to Denmark on Sunday (27th September, 5pm).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde | Haiti 3-2 Trinidad & Tobago<\/p>\n
As he continues to ease his way back to full fitness after suffering an injury in pre-season, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde added another 30 minutes into his legs in Haiti\u2019s opening CONCACAF Nations League match against Trinidad & Tobago in the early hours of Friday morning \u2013 helping inspire his country to a late comeback. Although it might not have been as dramatic as his Wolves teammates Munetsi and Chirewa, as Haiti took the lead before Trinidad & Tobago fought back to go ahead with half an hour remaining. Although Bellegarde was present for both of his country\u2019s late, late goals as Garven-Michee Metusala and Sunderland\u2019s Wilson Isidor scored in the first and eighth minutes of added time. The three points put Haiti in third place of their six-team League A Group A standings, ahead of a clash with Costa Rica in the early hours of Monday morning (12am).<\/p>\n

Jackson Tchatchoua was an unused substitute for Cameroon as his country began their AFCON qualification campaign with a 3-1 win over Rafiki Said\u2019s Comoros. Tchatchoua will be hoping to get a run out in the second of two qualifiers this month, as Cameroon face Congo on Tuesday (8pm).<\/p>\n

There is still plenty of Wolves players in international action over the coming days, as Nasser Djiga is with Burkina Faso as they begin their AFCON qualifying campaign at home to Benin on Friday evening (25th September, 8pm), while Ladislav Krejci is with Czech Republic for their UEFA Nations League opener against Croatia in Prague on Saturday (26th September, 7.45pm).<\/p>\n
