Prosecutors have confirmed that no proceedings will be brought against an Iranian man after an incident saw two people allegedly attempt to enter Faslane, Britain’s nuclear submarine base. <\/p>\n

A 34-year-old man from Iran and a 31-year-old woman from Romania were arrested following the incident at HM Naval Base Clyde on March 19 this year.<\/p>\n

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has now confirmed that no proceedings will be taken against the 34-year-old man \u201cat this time\u201d.<\/p>\n

The man had been charged, but was later released pending further inquiries without appearing in court.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors had previously decided not to bring proceedings against the woman, with that decision made in April.<\/p>\n

The latest decision concerning the Iranian man does not prevent prosecutors from taking action in the future if further evidence becomes available.<\/p>\n

The COPFS said: \u201cThe procurator fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on March 19, 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.<\/p>\n

The Royal Navy previously said that two people had unsuccessfully attempted to enter the base.<\/p>\n

HM Naval Base Clyde, is located on the Gare Loch in Argyll and Bute, and is a key site for the UK’s nuclear deterrent.<\/p>\n

The base is home to the Royal Navy’s Vanguard-class submarines, which carry the UK’s nuclear arsenal.<\/p>\n

It is also the home port for the Navy’s Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarines.<\/p>\n

COPFS is responsible for prosecuting crime in Scotland, and considers the available evidence when deciding whether criminal proceedings should be brought.<\/p>\n
