Sir Ranulph Fiennes\u2019 family and friends have called for his care to be urgently probed following reports he is being \u2018illegally\u2019 held in care homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n The explorer, 82, has not been seen in public for two years and is believed to have been moved between care homes under false names.<\/p>\n His family are now demanding the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) to investigate the role of his wife, Louise Millington-Cotes, as his legal guardian.<\/p>\n One care home in Wales<\/a> sounded the alarm that Sir Ranulph was being \u2018unlawfully deprived of his liberty\u2019 and that protocols were not being followed.<\/p>\n Alexander Millington-Cotes, who is estranged from his mother, said he had called the agency\u2019s safeguarding team to pass on more information about his stepfather\u2019s care, but had heard nothing in response.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n \u2018Of course the OPG should investigate \u2013 we would love them to investigate\u2019, he told the Telegraph.<\/p>\n \t\t Veteran BBC correspondent John Simpson, a friend of Sir Ranulph\u2019s, said it must be known \u2018what\u2019s happening to him\u2019, adding the explorer was the \u2018world\u2019s bravest man\u2019 but also vulnerable.<\/p>\n He wrote on X: \u2018Horrified to hear what\u2019s happened to my good friend Ran Fiennes.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019d like to tell the relevant authorities everything I know about the way he\u2019s been treated. He\u2019s the world\u2019s bravest man, and he\u2019s vulnerable.
