Season 52 of “Saturday Night Live” kicked off with its usual cold open, and it involved two unlikely political BFFs.<\/p>\n
Ramy Youssef stopped by to play New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whose office was visited by James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

“For some reason that no one can figure out, I really, really like you,” Trump said to Mamdani.<\/p>\n
When summing up their friendship, Trump also said, “I just love hanging out with you. We’re like one of those unlikely animal friendships, like when a tiger gets together with a baby goat. When I see stuff like that, I want to text it to you and say, ‘This could be us, but you playin’.’ Is that timely? Do people still say that? Anyway \u2026”<\/p>\n
The pair discussed the storm currently slamming the East Coast, the Knicks’ championship, this week’s U.N. meeting in NYC, Trump’s recent hosting of China President Xi Jinping, as well as his state dinner with Sam Altman, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg.<\/p>\n
Soon enough, their discussion was interrupted by Natalie Harp, Trump’s much-discussed executive assistant. Played by Ashley Padilla, Harp evoked “Obsession” character Nikki.<\/p>\n
Despite the storm, “I ran here from D.C., ‘Weapons’ style,” Harp said.<\/p>\n
“She’s like the girl from ‘Obsession’ but blonde,” Trump quipped.<\/p>\n
Harp ended the sketch by pulling Mamdani aside and threatening him, saying, “If you hurt him, I will end you.”<\/p>\n
Jalen Brunson is hosting the season premiere with Katseye as the musical guest. The episode is also the debut of new cast members Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter.<\/p>\n
