Tony Sims has considered the fighting future of Conor Benn<\/a> after watching his man suffer a second-round stoppage defeat to Ryan Garcia.<\/p>\n

The pair squared off in Las Vegas earlier this month, with Garcia defending the WBC world title he acquired by dethroning Mario Barrios in February.<\/p>\n

Prior to that, the American lost a unanimous decision to Rolando Romero \u2013 and suffered a second-round knockdown \u2013 while returning from a year-long doping ban.<\/p>\n

Since then, though, Garcia appears to have discovered some form and is now coming off arguably a career-best performance against Benn<\/a>, who he floored with a crushing right hand and ultimately stopped in round two.<\/p>\n

As a result, many believe \u2018The Destroyer\u2019 was exposed as an imposter at world level, given the glaring disparity in speed and skill between him and Garcia.<\/p>\n

Some have even suggested that retirement would not be such a bad idea, as Benn has surely reached a position where he no longer needs to fight for a living.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Ring Magazine<\/a>, however, head coach Sims offered his personal view that the 29-year-old is likely to resume his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he will [fight again]. He won\u2019t want to go out like that [coming off a stoppage defeat].<\/p>\n

\u201cHe needs to have a bit of a rest, regroup, and then see what he\u2019s going to do next.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about a move up from 147lbs, Sims admitted that Benn is undersized at middleweight while, in that same breath, highlighting his triumph over Chris Eubank Jr<\/a> as a career-best performance.<\/p>\n
