Hull KR chief executive officer Paul Lakin has confirmed that the club will sign \u2018at least three\u2019 players ahead of the 2027 season, despite the Robins not announcing any new recruits just yet.<\/p>\n

The Robins are one of two\u00a0 Super League clubs yet to announce a signing for 2027 despite confirmation that first-team pair Rhyse Martin and Joe Burgess are among those to leave the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Club CEO Paul Lakin has now provided a very simple explanation for that and it\u2019s one that in essence comes down to respect and the fact that Hull KR don\u2019t want to announce Nathan Cayless\u2019 signings whilst Willie Peters is still in office.<\/p>\n

Peters will depart at the end of the year with Cayless as his replacement<\/a> and Lakin confirmed, when speaking on the Hull KR YouTube channel<\/a>, that the Kiwi has a clear \u2018identity\u2019 of players he intends to sign, but that those announcements won\u2019t be made until the season is over.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy haven\u2019t we announced any signings? Because this season of all seasons, it\u2019s not right to,\u201d Lakin explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe signings that we\u2019ll be bringing in are Nathan\u2019s signings and I like [to have] a coach\u2019s quote on a player, why they\u2019ve brought the player in, but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s right to do that when Willie Peters is the head coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll those announcements can wait to the end of the season. The players that we\u2019re bringing in for next season, Nathan will get every chance to quote about them and we\u2019ll announce them at the end of this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Why Hull KR will not overhaul their squad for 2027<\/p>\n

As for how many signings could come in, Lakin confirmed that there will be \u2018at least three\u2019 but he\u2019s rubbished any suggestion of an overhaul, something that some have speculated.<\/p>\n

Explaining why there won\u2019t be an overhaul, he said: \u201cI go back to Wigan in 2024 who won the lot, they didn\u2019t win anything in \u201925. They didn\u2019t overhaul. They just came back stronger. They made a couple of tweaks and yes, they have the pathways to bring two or three youngsters through which now we need to do, but there\u2019s no need to do a major overhaul of our squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got a great core, a great spine, we just need to add some youth and some fresher legs and Nathan embraces that and understands that it doesn\u2019t need an overhaul.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019d add:\u00a0\u201cIn terms of incomings, there will be at least three but I think this season will be quite fluid. It could easily be four by the beginning of the season and as we\u2019ve been known to before, maybe make some moves during the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s an element where Nathan needs to understand what he\u2019s working with and who he\u2019s working with.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got a core of three players he knows well and they\u2019re all of a certain type and he\u2019s keen to get those guys over but I think we\u2019ll be assessing as we go along.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking more on recruitment, particularly who and what Cayless wants, Lakin said:\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve identified players that we wanted to bring in, that he wanted to bring in, and there\u2019s a certain type of player that he wants to bring in.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s shared with me a clear identity of the type of players he\u2019s looking for and we\u2019ve recruited accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n
