The Quantum Kid brings quantum physics to wow\u00b2 Space at ETH Z\u00fcrich on October 31 \u2014 Halloween! \u2014 with 10-year-old Kai dressed as the Grim Reaper.<\/p>\n
Families and quantum-curious kids in the Zurich area are invited to come along.<\/p>\n
Tesseract Quantum is crowdfunding CHF 3,500 for a professional video of the event and 200 printed quantum flyers for the audience.<\/p>\n
Halloween is just around the corner \u2013 and at ETH Z\u00fcrich this year it\u2019ll be blended with quantum physics! On October 31, 10-year-old Kai will take the stage at wow\u00b2 Space dressed as the Grim Reaper, ready to ask some of the biggest questions in science in the way only a 10-year-old can.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re in Zurich that day and have kids who love spooky costumes, curious questions, or both \u2014 come join us! Bring the family, wear a costume if you like, and watch Kai do what he does best: get scientists to explain the weirdest ideas in physics in plain English.<\/p>\n
The Quantum Kid started as a small idea from Tesseract Quantum, a nonprofit based in Meilen, back in June 2025. Since then, Kai has sat down with leading quantum researchers on his YouTube channel, always with the same simple request: \u201cexplain it to me like I\u2019m 10.\u201d Somewhere along the way, that turned into over 120,000 subscribers, nearly 3 million views, and a 2026 Webby Award nomination.<\/p>\n
To make the most of this Halloween appearance, we\u2019re bringing in a professional videographer to capture it properly, so it can become a full episode for the channel. We\u2019re also printing 200 quantum-physics flyers to hand out to the families and schoolkids who come along \u2014 something fun to take home after the trick-or-treating.<\/p>\n That\u2019s what your donation goes toward: the videographer, the edit, and the flyers. Every franc goes straight into making this a great day for the kids in the audience.
