If it sleeps, he can kill it. Dan Trachtenberg, the man responsible for not one but two of the only good Predator sequels, is leaving the jungle for the Magic Kingdom. Per Deadline<\/a>, Trachtenberg will direct an upcoming original idea inspired by Sleeping Beauty. That might feel like a stretch for a guy known for movies about murderous extraterrestrials and warriors\/bots who love them, but it\u2019s said to be an \u201centirely new direction with Trachtenberg\u2019s distinct sensibility.\u201d While we hope that means our tuckered-out princess will get a manibled kiss from a dreadlocked alien, Deadline reports it\u2019s a new story concocted by Trachtenberg and TV writer Rayna McClendon, with the creators of Big Time In Hollywood Florida, Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf, on script duties. As of now, it doesn\u2019t sound like this latest reimagining will be a part of the long-running Maleciverse, which has enjoyed a healthy two features: 2014\u2019s Maleficent and 2019\u2019s Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil. We don\u2019t know what it is right now, but we wouldn\u2019t rule out another surprise Cloverfield sequel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Trachtenberg\u2019s Predator work, Prey and Predator: Badlands, and this mysterious Sleeping Beauty project are products of the Walt Disney Corporation, the filmmaker currently has a first-look deal with Paramount, where he\u2019s working on an adaptation of the kid-friendly horror comic Freddy The 13th<\/a>, an animated project with \u201cwholesome PG-rated scares and laughs to the whole family.\u201d He\u2019s been moving in that direction since Badlands, the first PG-13 Predator since AVP, and the only one in the series\u00a0you could reasonably show to a 10-year-old without traumatizing them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"If it sleeps, he can kill it.
