A Deeside community gym has bought equipment for a new outdoor exercise area aimed at people who would rather not train in a conventional gym.<\/p>\n

Number One Deeside, a not-for-profit community interest company, paid for the kit with a \u00a3300 donation from housebuilder Ashberry Homes, whose Jubilee Place development is on Welsh Road.<\/p>\n

Head coach Ed Harper said: \u201cThe new space will provide a welcoming environment and a supportive community for those who don\u2019t see traditional gyms as being for them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will also aim to improve physical and mental wellbeing, build confidence and life skills and offer positive activities that can help reduce antisocial behaviour in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Number One has been running in Deeside for 10 years and offers free and low-cost exercise and wellbeing sessions across Flintshire and north Wales.<\/p>\n

The gym has 153 members and is open from 5am to 10pm every day, the organisation said.<\/p>\n

It also has a running club and an Olympic weightlifting club.<\/p>\n

Free sessions run with local groups include ones for Andy\u2019s Man Club members, Couch to 5K courses and activities for women and girls.<\/p>\n

Mr Harper said the team was \u201ccontinually looking for new ways to engage people who struggle to access health and wellbeing services\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ashberry Homes sales director Jenny Bell said the company was \u201cdelighted to support with this donation and bring the new outdoor exercise space to life\u201d.<\/p>\n
